Hey Jo, where you going with that gun in your hands....
I talked to Marv on the phone a couple weeks ago, he's been going flat out for quite some time. It's a very busy fire season this year, and with the heat and very little rain, it's not getting any better.
It's smoky here in Edmonton as well, not sure what it's like along the route or at home, but we'll see next week.
No I don't think of this as a "shopping site", despite what some others might think, or even try to turn the idea of "online dating" into.
Any person is able to meet more people in a rather short order due to the nature of a site like CS, globally. I see that as a benefit to anyone that is willing to make an effort to actually go through with meeting people, regardless of where they're situated. Many just sit online and hope or maybe even expect that someone will fall into their lap. When it doesn't happen, they complain, whine, snivel, etc...then start blaming internet dating because of their lack of prospective dates or non activity in general.
Sure, I've talked to a lot of people on the site over the years, met some great friends through the site, even dated a little. That took being proactive about it all, going out and making an effort, meeting people, even travelling several times. It was all worth it, and I have no regrets.
Of course, through this medium it's easy to meet, get to know, then forget people, it's almost expected in a way. I don't see it as a sign of the times, people being disposable, it's just that some people should be given a miss, and it's easier to figure that out than ever. That is especially true when you are on the forums of any given site, and even more so if you've been on them for a while.
Like anything in life, you have to make an effort, maybe even work for it, otherwise how will you appreciate what you have when you get it.
I have actually experienced it, having worked in a few family businesses and other places where it has occurred. I still feel the same way, it's a matter of personal freedom, and the problems are really a management issue that should be dealt with appropriately.
In a family run business it's a little more difficult, so I opted to quit, 3 times actually. The third time I never went back, seeing as nothing was ever going to change. At the U of A, things were handled in a much more professional manner, but I did quit there too, albeit for different reasons.
I've never worked with anyone I had an interest in, so it's never been an issue for me personally.
I'm not communicating with you, just calling you on your BS, same as your man-hate posts in the past. If you don't like that, don't post erroneous information or bash men, simple.
I'd avoid you like the plague in any other situation. Hope your socks and undies aren't as crunchy as your hat.
I should send a couple pics of some of the old cars I have, you might change your mind.
Or maybe not.
I've never flown a plane, but have flown a glider before. It's something I've always wanted to do, but getting a pilot's licence isn't cheap, neither is buying a plane.
As you know I have an interest in them as well, and if I won a lottery, I'd have to build a bigger garage somewhere to house a collection of old vehicles. Might buy a small plane or two as well, if it was a really BIG win.
I'll get there eventually, well, with the house that is, not sure about all the rest. Some day the garage will be clean enough that I can bring some of the old cars indoors, hopefully before they all turn into piles of iron oxide.
Funny thing is, my life wouldn't change all that much, I'd still be doing what I do, just not for money. I'd still be building things, like fences, just in other countries.
At least I could finish renovating my own home a little quicker, rather than current 3 to 25 year plan. It'd be nice to not be living in a construction zone.
Nope, it isn't for everyone, but it is something I would like to have finished, even now. I think I might have enjoyed university, it's a completely different environment to public school. Although there are plenty of people that have had power go to their head there too. I worked at the University of Alberta for a while, I have no doubt that I could have excelled had I had the opportunity. Oh well, I do have a nice collection of picks and shovels, something most academics could never fully appreciate.
The problem was, that after all that happened, I lost interest in scholastic activities, and never did finish. I didn't stop learning though, just did it in a different way than others, and continue to do so.
Marron and white eh...well, I'll settle for naked pics than.
Not so much naughty, just didn't put up with any crap from the so called authority figures at school. Even after being strapped and getting segregated from everyone else, I refused to yield. I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to defending my rights as a human being.
