RE: the word "Dear"

On here, dunno, very few have ever called me "dear", but that could be for any number of other reasons. devil laugh

I've never taken offence to the word though, and I do know a couple of people that use it regularly with a lot of people in daily life. Mind you, they're 60 ish plus, but still.

Scammers are easy to spot, usually, but it's not usually a word or phrase that gives them away, it's their general use of language and especially if it's English. Not to mention their inability to answer direct questions.

Haven't had any trouble with scammers for many years on here, just simply delete them. I have had trouble with fake profiles though, and some of them are the last type of person you'd ever expect to be behind one. There are some truly messed up people here on CS. laugh

Seeing as I don't have a gold chain of any length, would that mean zero seconds? banana

Not far off, 2.045 seconds at best. Ok, it's closer to 3...laugh

RE: CATS

I tend to believe the same, just not sure how, or some cases, why? laugh

I just adopted a cat, a cute little furry ball of love. She was abandoned by her previous carer, and brought home by a friend, who is moving to a place where he can't have cats. While I was over visiting, she saw me, and wouldn't leave me alone, stuck to me like glue. So....I took her home a few days later. happy place

A year ago, that's what I wanted, a cat in the house for a companion, and also for keeping the mice down, seeing as I live in what is basically an old warehouse. Well, I got a dog, and not too many regrets, just training issues, but I still wanted a cat. Now I have one of the cuddliest, most friendly, affectionate animals I've ever encountered.very happy

Not sure if it's fair to compare pets, let alone cats, but I'm thinking she'll be as good as my Siamese, Ping, or at least close. She's inquisitive, learns quick, seems to pay attention, and also seems to follow some basic commands. I wish my 13 month old puppy would take lessons from the 4 month old cat.

Anyway, two dogs, one cat....now all I need is a llama and an elephant and I'll have a petting zoo, or a travelling circus. laugh

On second thought, no llamas or elephants please, my hands are full. doh

RE: What men are looking for?!

Hunters maybe, but that doesn't mean that they can't show empathy, love, compassion, and understanding.

I'm still looking for a warm place to have a nap....nothing has changed. happy place

Reeling in the years......

9 hours isn't bad, I spent about 20 hours in my Dad's garage, in 10 to 25 below temps. I did more than clean up my own stuff though, that was the easy part. I also cleaned up both of my brother's crap, and some of my Dad's too.

I went through my Mom's stuff a couple years ago after she passed away, and she had saved all of our report cards as well as a bunch of other stuff, including pictures. That was a lot longer of a process, and more difficult, but it was a neccessity.

All I can say is....many. laugh

Funny thing is, I seem to finish the less worthwhile projects long before the ones that I think I should be concentrating on. They're easier, granted, but still, I think it's that memory of long hard winters that makes me put some of them off, until better weather arrives. Yet, I now live in a decent climate, where I can do a lot of them year round, but don't. dunno

I was ready to start digging today to start a retaining wall and some fence posts, but the ground is still frozen a few inches down, so that'll have to wait. In the meantime, I think I'll build a garden shed, even though it's a "new" project. One of many that have yet to be finished, all waiting for that one last piece, or pieces to be done.

I get the feeling some day, it'll be like EVERYTHING happened seemingly overnight, when it's all done, when those last few bits finally got done, arrived, etc...laugh

RE: wars of greed

What is your interpretation of the "golden rule"?

The way I see it, "the one who has the gold, makes the rules". Hence the major religions of the world sending their flock out to conquer the rest, and supplying the leaders with all the gold.

Have you ever seen the amount of gold and silver in Spain, or Vatican City? Do you have any idea of the number of people that died in the process of extracting, processing, and transporting those precious resources in order for a very few to have domination over others?

RE: wars of greed

Simple, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity, as well as the lesser of the world's cults, would lose out on the control they have over people. The leaders of all these cults can't let that happen, otherwise they'd have to get real jobs and earn an honest living. laugh

RE: Forgive your enemies

It simply doesn't make for a good story. You have to have an antagonist, or things get boring really quickly. Mind you, the old testament was kinda cool in a way....devil

RE: Must we feel so singular about religion..

Do you know of a way to light a smoke with a laptop? It's about the only thing I have here in my room at the moment, other than cigarettes obviously. laugh

Reeling in the years......

I dunno if I'd say objects are always symbols, but often they can be. For me, they're usually more a means to an end, or occasionally an expression of one's self in something I've created.

Either way, it's an outlet, and many can't seem to understand that.

Reeling in the years......

Glad to hear of at least a few people finding things, from their childhood or recent years. Things they have forgotten, or even things they knew were there.

PS: I'm not a hoarder. mumbling

Hoarders collect anything and everything, a lot of which has no real value or use. Everything I have is good stuff, has an actual use in my life, or is at least worth something. I have no time or space for crap, end of. cool

RE: CYCLISTS

Should realise they're not invincible out on the road, and adjust they're riding practises accordingly.

I've been riding a bike since I was 5 ish, and have had dozens of them, from BMX, freestyle, to 10/12 speeds and mountain bikes, and still own 4 of them, which I ride, other than when winter shows up. I realised at an early age that you can't compete with a car, truck, or a city bus when jockeying for position on a city street. I wish the idiots out there would come to the same conclusion. doh

PS: A blinking light on the rear is never a bad idea, helps you from having your stool unnecessarily pushed in. laugh

RE: Laziness...?

Could be, for some anyway, but not for me. I've been across three of the western provinces several times in the last couple years, west coast to that sea of wheat and canola we call Asskatchewan. laugh

I have met people from the site, quite a few actually, and although it might be akward meeting someone new, I've never worried about what they might think of me. I'm me, pretty much the same on here or in person, for better or worse. grin

Reeling in the years......

Have you ever ha to go through some of you own belongings, things that you've forgotten about, stored somewhere, like your parents home(s)?

Been doing this for the last few nights, in my Dad's garage, despite the cold weather. I haven't found a lot that's interesting, but some items have brought back a lot of memories. Some of the great neighbours I had while growing up, men and women both, and some of friends I had, that I haven't seen in 20/30 years.

Have you found anything stashed away, that you haven't seen in years, that brings back any memories, good or bad? daydream

RE: A Wise Woman vs. A Foolish Woman

You're right, some people will never get it, and not worth the effort to try and see another's perspective. They just aren't capable of it, too much brainwashing, and sometimes, there is no way back to reality.

Sad as it is, I've seen it many times, and rarely does one ever "wake up and smell the coffee", let alone, become aware of their surroundings and real life.

RE: What's On Your Mind - Part 25

Whaddaya mean, someone's going to feed me? grin

RE: A Wise Woman vs. A Foolish Woman

I disagree with the notion that only wise people would recieve the information. It really comes down to the delivery of said message, and how you relate to people.

If you want to come across as all knowing and preachy, that you have all the answers, then you should expect to be confronted with a wall of resistance, especially by people who don't believe the same as you do. I'm sure you can "understand" that, if not, then all I have to say to you is a waste of my precious time.

My first post on this site, over 8 years ago, was a biblical quote, "Above all, gain understanding". I still feel that one should gain understanding, to appreciate the way that others feel, think, and live. Maybe you should do the same.

RE: A Wise Woman vs. A Foolish Woman

He's 13 months old now, about 75 pounds, and FULL of energy. I have a tough time trying to wear him out, especially now in the winter. Thankfully I have another dog here as well, and they play all the time, until she gets tired and bites his cheek or ears. laugh

Sounds a lot like what you're doing here on CS, with an arrogant and condescending attitude towards others.
