And in Barcelona as I said earlier. But generally they die from either the cold or predators.

RE: Ethical or not?

Parakeets are wild animals just like elephants or tigers.

They are meant to be free and to be able to fly.

They are exotic birds and generally wouldn't survive if released in a strange environment. They'd be killed by other birds cats, etc.

RE: Last to post wins

scold

grin

RE: Ethical or not?

There are no wild animals in circuses here for years.

RE: Ethical or not?

Does it apply to what? laugh

RE: Ethical or not?

It is still common in other countries, Spain for example.

Interestingly, in Barcelona, the trees are full of descendants of escaped exotic birds like parrots and parakeets. It is strange to see and hear those birds in the trees in the middle of the city.

RE: Ethical or not?

Not if they arr in their natural habitat.

They couldn't survive if released in unnatural surroundings though.

RE: Ethical or not?

I don't like that either.

I know some do allow them to fly around the house, at least they get to spread their wings that way.

RE: Impolite messages on dating sites

What did you write? laugh

RE: Ethical or not?

I'm not a zoo fan, but they have changed their outlook on recent years. The welfare of the animal is put above the entertainment value now.

However I do prefer wildlife parks where the animals can roam more freely.

The best would of course be for the animals to be in their natural habitat, but us humans have basically taken away that option.
Between encroachment into their space by farms or so-called development, we have decided that we can't share space with other creatures.

Just today I saw photos from England of hedgerows and trees covered in netting to stop birds building nests - all in the name of development.
It is a disgrace.
