RE: What is the right religion finally, so I can convert?

The usual way is for a person to follow the religion of their parents or country and only relatively recently has it started to be quite normal to question and then, not in all countries - in some places, people who question too loudly still get locked up - how godlike is that? Believe in me or else you'll get it laugh hole uh oh

ps has that little boxer emote gone or am I just being blind as a bat again?

RE: What is the right religion finally, so I can convert?

Nope, he was an Atheist without question - he refers to religion as an "illusory happiness of the people"

and

"Take paper money to a country in which this use of paper money is not known, and everyone will laugh at your subjective representation. Go with your gods to a country in which other gods are worshipped, and you will be shown that you are the victim of fancies and abstractions. And rightly. Anyone who had brought a migrant god to the ancient Greeks, would have found the proof of the non-existence of this god, because it did not exist for the Greeks. What is the case in a certain country for certain foreign gods, takes place for god in general in the country of reason: it is an area in which his existence ceases" (K. Marx, Frammento dell'appendice della dissertazione dottorale, in A. Sabetti, Sulla fondazione del materialismo storico, Florence 1962, p. 415).

RE: What is the right religion finally, so I can convert?

like heck he did - I wasnt gonna do this but as you have misrepresented one of my all time fave quotes, here ya go.....

"Religion is, indeed, the self-consciousness and self-esteem of man who has either not yet won through to himself, or has already lost himself again. But man is no abstract being squatting outside the world. Man is the world of man—state, society. This state and this society produce religion, which is an inverted consciousness of the world, because they are an inverted world. Religion is the general theory of this world, its encyclopedic compendium, its logic in popular form, its spiritual point d'honneur, its enthusiasm, its moral sanction, its solemn complement, and its universal basis of consolation and justification. It is the fantastic realization of the human essence since the human essence has not acquired any true reality. The struggle against religion is, therefore, indirectly the struggle against that world whose spiritual aroma is religion. Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions. The criticism of religion is, therefore, in embryo, the criticism of that vale of tears of which religion is the halo."

RE: Got Milk...

Theres a lot of research going on into it including excessive weight problems, links to asthma and curiously enough, to brittle bone disease

"Human Bodies Fight Cow's Milk
Besides humans (and companion animals who are fed by humans), no species drinks milk beyond infancy or drinks the milk of another species. Cow's milk is suited to the nutritional needs of calves, who have four stomachs and gain hundreds of pounds in a matter of months, sometimes weighing more than 1,000 pounds before they are 2 years old.(28)

Cow's milk is the number one cause of food allergies among infants and children, according to the American Gastroenterological Association.(29) Most people begin to produce less lactase, the enzyme that helps with the digestion of milk, when they are as young as 2 years old. This reduction can lead to lactose intolerance.(30) Millions of Americans are lactose intolerant, and an estimated 90 percent of Asian-Americans and 75 percent of Native- and African-Americans suffer from the condition, which can cause bloating, gas, cramps, vomiting, headaches, rashes, and asthma.(31) A U.K. study showed that people who suffered from irregular heartbeats, asthma, headaches, fatigue, and digestive problems "showed marked and often complete improvements in their health after cutting milk from their diets."(32)

Calcium and Protein Myths

Although American women consume tremendous amounts of calcium, their rates of osteoporosis are among the highest in the world. Conversely, Chinese people consume half as much calcium (most of it from plant sources) and have a very low incidence of the bone disease.(33) Medical studies indicate that rather than preventing the disease, milk may actually increase women's risk of getting osteoporosis. A Harvard Nurses' Study of more than 77,000 women ages 34 to 59 found that those who consumed two or more glasses of milk per day had higher risks of broken hips and arms than those who drank one glass or less per day.(34) T. Colin Campbell, professor of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University, said, "The association between the intake of animal protein and fracture rates appears to be as strong as that between cigarette smoking and lung cancer."(35)

RE: Got Milk...

Thats usually a cue to do a bit of research of our own but to ignore it is a risk taken at your own peril dunno wave

RE: Should This Be Surprising ???

RE: are women turned of by men who take drugs??

Yep, the whole thing of prescription and legal drugs such as uppers and downers, painkillers and antidepressants or alcohol and tobacco, are all very misleading for people and create a false sense of security thumbs up

RE: are women turned of by men who take drugs??

Granted its a very long time since I was last in Amsterdam (20yrs or more) but we did used to be able to have a beer with a smoke - the combination makes me puke anyway so Im best just sticking with the mary jane laugh

RE: are women turned of by men who take drugs??

and the one that really tee's me off is those who take prescription drugs with 'do not drive' warnings on and totally ignore those warnings thereby not only putting themselves at risk but also all other road users too very mad

RE: are women turned of by men who take drugs??

Would you say that if it was one of your loved ones who had been unfortunate enough to get mixed up in it all dunno

RE: are women turned of by men who take drugs??

I stopped smoking ciggies not long back and see that as serious drugs now - looking back I cant believe how quickly I got addicted to those things and alcohol, Ive seen so many people lose the grip on reality with that stuff - Ive had known people who died from heroin overdoses too and the only one Ive never seen kill anybody is the weed, so Ill stick with that and it would be nice if a potential partner thought the same way too.... thumbs up
