RE: do you believe in the second comming of jesus

There are too many unanswered questions in the whole story for my liking and for the liking of an increasing amount of other people too...

"How can Gospels which were not written until a hundred and fifty years after Christ is supposed to have died, and which do not rest on any trustworthy testimony, have the slightest value as evidence that he really lived? History must be founded upon genuine documents or on living proof. Were a man of to-day to attempt to write the life of a supposed character of a hundred and fifty years ago, without any historical documents upon which to base his narrative, his work would not be a history, it would be a romance. Not a single statement in it could be relied upon.

Christ is supposed to have been a Jew, and his disciples are said to have been Jewish fishermen. His language, and the language of his followers must, therefore, have been Aramaic--the popular language of Palestine in that age. But the Gospels are written in Greek--every one of them. Nor were they translated from some other language. Every leading Christian scholar since Erasmus, four hundred years ago, has maintained that they were originally written in Greek. This proves that they were not written by Christ's disciples, or by any of the early Christians. Foreign Gospels, written by unknown men, in a foreign tongue, several generations after the death of those who are supposed to have known the facts--such is the evidence relied upon to prove that Jesus lived."

RE: Liberalism: A Misunderstood term

Yeah but when did that ever stop em bending the rules - thats what this whole mess is about - corruption in high places is the norm and if it is "legally permitted" then the law in question was written and passed by other rule benders.......

Oh to live in a perfect world laugh sigh

RE: Liberalism: A Misunderstood term

"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.

That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.

It works the same in any country."

RE: Out of Body Experience

Cigarettes 'are' a drug and they are a particularly nasty one too - I never heard of anybody getting addicted to LSD or Sacred Mushrooms dunno

RE: hhas anybody ever gone crazy ?...if so ...why ? " tell us the whole story "

Where you coming from Gilly? You answer first and give us a bit of a yardstick (measuring post) teddybear

I went crazy at my friend a couple of weeks ago, she fell in the river when it was really snowy and cold - I didnt half give her a crazy telling off - once the firemen had got her out that is....

RE: Anyone Remember Nuala/Noodles from here

I can vouch for those scones thumbs up

Sitting in Nualas kitchen while she baked scones and busied about after the kids (quite grown by then) is one of my nicest and most enduring memories - she sure is a special lady wine

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

Yeah, bet we'd have a hell of a time when the people went home grin thumbs up bouquet laugh

RE: WHY PEOPLE BELIEVE IN GOD? Because of...

I reckon most people believe in god cos they get taught to be scared to doubt......... its a sin to doubt god you know......

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

Maybe Ill write it in my will that thats how I want to leave this mortal coil - embalmed with a flammable gel and set on a giant catherine wheel with fireworks that spell out "woo hoo,, the great adventure at last" rolling on the floor laughing

Hiya Blarney wave

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

They still do - they really believe that its the body and blood of Christ - thats what the transubstantiation is

The christians in the crusades took to cannibalism too, its all there if you google it........

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

If I was to get married it would be in a woodland glade in late springtime, no shoes would be needed on the mossy carpet provided by mother nature and out vows to each other would be made in the hearing of our friends - no need of the interference of the church, let that be enough for those who will............

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

No, theyd barricade the doors and hiss at me rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

I used to be a member of the church choir when they still did the mass in Latin, I just adored that singing, very hypnotic but then I found I didnt have to partake of cannibalistic ritual to tap into the beauty of music, I got a guitar grin

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

Theyd have to catch me first - Id be on the first mode of transport out of there at the slightest suggestion of force...... actually, seriously for a sec, I wouldnt date a religious person full stop cos I know before the start that it would cause problems - I even have a similar rule in letting people close enough to be close friends - Im a happy secularist and so are my close buddies - I know a lot of folk think thats terrible but we all say "live and let live" while religions all think they are right and everybody else is wrong and I just think thats totally nutty behaviour.......

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

well, they most certainlt wouldnt let me back through the doors a second time anyways grin

RE: Dating someone who is Religious..

Id be standing up in the middle of the sermon and challenging the pastor for proof of what he just said rolling on the floor laughing nah, it aint for me laugh

RE: World without borders

We would be left arguing about the criteria for deciding the best one then it would get down to the semantics nd that in itself could take centuries by which time there would be 30,000 franchises and meanwhile, McDonalds would claim they were the best for the job anyway cos their products are pure and ethically sourced so they show more ability grin

RE: World without borders

Thats no way to speak about CS Sol conversing grin wave

RE: jared loughner is a pothead

I agree totally but then some of the kids in cities are trying all sorts by the time theyre 9 yrs old - thats not about a drug, thats about a society thats failing its citizens...... and about youngsters who believe the only way out is via the black market - they start young.........

ANyway, was just saying........ Ive been smoking it since I was 16 and never went out to kill anybody yet - the legal one, alcohol is far more likely to cause irrationality such as shooting, taking a toke just makes you get the munchies and think it over some more......

RE: jared loughner is a pothead

Millions of us are pot heads, he's most likely on prescribed meds too and had prob been drinking as well but hell, its that damned pot to blame........... doh doh doh

RE: What are your thoughts on Christianity?

haha - touche rolling on the floor laughing

RE: What are your thoughts on Christianity?

“Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing bad things, but for good people to do bad things, it takes religion.”

RE: inspirational person

Im just bumping a few posts to get the annoying one off the front page thumbs up

RE: What are your thoughts on Christianity?

I agree but why not make your own threads instead of bumping old ones. You just make enemies with this Mr Angry attitude. Im an Atheist and have many gripes against Christianity - just start a thread and if they come in spewing hatred at you (which I guarantee) deal with it then..........

RE: What are your thoughts on Christianity?

Whats your game then, why all the hatred?

Are you just out for a bit of flame baiting? Get a few folk angry, leave em guessing who you are after the mods delete your profile which wont take long at this rate dunno

RE: what do you think is worthy to devote your best?

Its different for different people but I reckon it would be nice to put some effort into finding a way for the whole world to get on better rather than how things are at the moment - the politicians all seem to actually 'want' there to be wars and troubles for some reason - Id gladly put all my time into finding out why that is dunno
