Everyone suffers, at one time or another from depression, and is able to snap out of it, so to speak, while others simply cannot. Many different things can cause depression, some physical, some mental as well as just Life itself. The trick is to seek help if need be. There are alot of wonderful, warm, funny, friendly people on this site. From what I can tell, there is usually always someone on here. I am a recovering cancer "survivor" and some days I just am not able to get up and move about. I am new here also and I cannot tell you how happy I was to have found this site. Some days this is my interaction with the outside world via my lap top. I believe there truly are good people on here that will talk to you whenever you feel the need. 
Not everything the media reports is always correct. 
There are wonderful things that doctors can do these days with lasers, etc. Never give up...

I do have a good friend that lives right at the water in Galveston, Tx., and there are certain things he does, i.e., cleans his bathtub really well and fills it up with water, etc. The last time they evacuated around the Houston area a few years back, he did not leave. Simply refused to go...but he has since moved to Galveston and I am not certain what precautions he will be taking. I have heard him say that yes people in South Texas are due. Please be careful.
