What a player Kirwan was. Jim's brother Brian was much harder at under 18 and under 21 but obviously the scouts knew what they were doing. I used to try to get a big hit on Jim early on as he didn't fancy it.
I played against him and was offered a place at the same time as him. TBH he was a wussie at under 18 level here but he obviously adapted and became a star.
