Her wedding dress? Isn't it weird that at times like that it's the strangest things that can catch one off guard...it must hold a lot of memories for you .
Ah God youcannow, I'm so sorry to hear that , it must've been heartbreaking for you to watch your own brother suffer lilke that. But I'm glad to hear you managed to give him a little extra time, those extra weeks must've been so precious to you and to him..
Oh dear, spmeone's getting their knickers in a twist...
Now now, no need to get personal. You don't know anything about me and I don't feel compelled to argue with those personal comments about me either, if you want to believe that rubbish then be my guest....
I'm not getting defensive, you are getting angry though.. So why not have a wee toke for yourself and get a good nights sleep, you'll be grand tomorrow
Do you drink alcohol? smoke? eat junk food? Drive a car? breathe in city car fumes every day?
They're all just as bad and in some cases even worse. hundreds of children die worldwide due to car fumes. Not one child has ever died as a result of smoking a joint...
and don't get me wrong. apart from twice, many years ago and many years apart, I never ever use the stuff, but that doesn't mean I wouldnt if the circumstances called for it...I'd use it before i'd ask the doctor for some sort of pills...because they're the ones that are seriously dangerous, it only takes two weeks constant used to get addicted to sleeping tablets....cannabis isn't usually addictive...
I remember Arthur Scargill as a child, he seemed a very unpleasant man to me but then again I was just a child. I don't doubt he contributed to the decline of the unions in England....
No, lol... of course she didn't....but I bet any money if she were around in the 1800's she'd have taxed them to the eyeballs..or found some way to make their lives even more of a misery...
other than to express disgust at what Maggie Thatcher did to her own country and her own people I haven't given any political views.
I had already explained that drugs were legal prior to the 50's but you flat out denied it. then soon as some other man comes on and says the very same thing you acquiesce to him.. THAT is misogyny my dear man...blatent misogyny.
No, you didn't, you treated me like a typical middle aged european white male who thinks women are stupd and can't think for themselves......and when you ran out of steam and realised your "opinions" weren't getting traction you resorted to that nasty comment about my knowing better than some doctor you know.....That's not respect youcannow ,it's thinly veiled disrespect....and as a women who works in a male dominated field I can spot it a mile away....there are many men who can't stand it when a woman can confidently correct him and put him right...what's really annoying is that I'm not trying to be personal, but they are very personal about it and it's tedious to be honest....that's so typical of men it's not even seen as misogyny, ,but it is misogyny
yes I enjoyed it to a degree, but to be honest a bit baffled at how blinkered you seem to be about what really happened in England and the effect it's had and will keep having for generations...I just assumed you were just trying to stoke the flames..
I know doctors who would agree...and one who is a regular user...for pain because pain killers are too dangerous to use regularly whereas cannabis isn't....
But obviously I know better? Seriously? Cheap, snide sarcasm? Seems you're not above the nasty comments that you derided others for either...
You think? Then why are there still children having to do a full days work in places like India and other third world countries...not as far fetched as you might like to believe...and if it weren't for the collective the big industrialists would still have our children working all day if they could get away with it....It's only been in the last 30 odd years men started to live past their 65 birthday, when they retired..because working conditions were so bad. They were no sooner retired then they died....
The car industry had plenty of dangerous conditions.....and still do. But that's not the point. The unions were there primarily to ensure fair wages and decent working conditions..
No, you said it was the fat cats that gave jobs (or something to that effect) so hardly the same thing.....and two totally different principles.
After reading your comment to (I think it was) Bod, it seems you struggle to discuss matters such as this in a rational reasonable fashion with a woman....it sounds like you struggle with her being that bit more informed than you ...
I didnt' understand why others called you a misogynist on here, but now I see why....
Isn't it amazing how a man will respect what another man has to say but totally dismisses it when a woman said the very same thing previously...Misogyny right there folks!
Au contraire, I didn't quote ,I said "probably" so that's clearly my not having quoted anything...
Ah but there would be ,somewhere....those kind of stastitics would be freely available if someone really wanted to know. It's called the "Freedom of Information Act"
Cannabis is as old as the pyramids, in fact it was found in a 10,000 year old sarcophogus...so we know it's dangers and risks..they're nothing compared to tobacco and alcohol....or even the legal drugs like e.g. warfarin..and don't get me started on the likes of sleeping tables and pain killers...they're deadly dangerous and doctors are giving them out like sweeties...and you're complaining about a fairly innocuous plant that doesn't do half the harm..or even one tenth...
No, that's not the effect of cannibas. That's you seeing what you want to see I suspect, not what's actually there...The youth of today are probably the first generation to suffer from such endemic depression and emotional/mental health problems...and very very very little of it caused by cannabis...in fact a bit of cannabis would do them the world of good imo...
if it weren't for the unions we'd still have children out working, dreadful working conditions and people losing limbs or worse dying from having to work in dreadfully unhealthy conditions...
If the greedy privateers of modern day industry were more humane there wouldn't have been need for the unions...The unions were needed to curb and keep the psychopathic rapacious greed and lust for money and power under control....
If you have to resort to using China as an example then you mustn't understand the difference between capitalism and socialism. China is neither by the way
Capitalism is socialism for the rich .Socialism looks after everyone and doesn't expect the state to legislate for every little detail, it allows far more social autonomy and self monitoring...which means lots of room is left for morals and ethics...capitalism doesn't, money rules in Capitalism and it's a fight to the death for everything..which is why the US and UK are exhuasted ruins these days...people are tired of always having to fight for every little morsel...Socialism puts the people at the front and protects their futures and their childrens futures .....I guess most (especially the vociferous anti socialism Americans) must have a very skewed viewed of the true meaning and in truth have no idea what their trying to protect....
Actually it's the SME's that employ the majority of people not the likes of Amazon, Facebook etc etc...
And its the self employed small businesses that create the circular economy that keeps small towns and villages busy, thriving, social centres . Take away the small, privately owned businesses from a town and you're left with a typical large English town where the money is drained out and banked off shore by the large multinationals....and it loses it soul....The reason why the towns are dying on their feet....
I hope the "someone" you're refeerring to isn't me Tom, because I don't have any first hand experience of council houses at all, not even as a child and, as an (almost adult), I bought my first house when I was barely 23 and have always owned my house outright ever since
That doesn't mean I don't understand or have compassion and sympathy for those who weren't/arent so lucky...To be honest I think entitlement to a decent, warm, dry roof over your head is a human right as itsaccess to education, medical care and the means to put food on the table and feed your family....the rest is up for grabs imo.....
Actually, the better society cares for the more vulnerable and poorest, the more peaceful, less fearful, safer and nicer place it is to live.....compare the likes of chronically capitalist US with the likes of the Norway, Sweden , Ireland etc and you will find the latter countries are far nicer places to live, not to mention safer...
