RE: Is Federal Reserve Bank a private ( non government) bank?

I've been reading about "the Fed" lately and it's quite interesting.

Thomas Jefferson, declared, "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

This link will take you to the official propaganda site. The questions are precise, but the answers are vague and evasive.

This link will take you to an in-depth report on the truth about "the Fed". It was written after extensive research into the details and facts and lists the actual owners of "the Fed".

There are many sites providing information on "the Fed". I guess it's up to the American people to determine if our government is, yet again, hiding facts in order to protect the powers that be (those with the money).

RE: East Coast Blizzard

I love snow storms and power outages! A generator comes in handy, but I love lighting candles and oil lamps and just curling up in front of a fireplace. I'd love being snowed in all winter. But I've never been accused of being normal.

RE: Today's thought.............

Without the sadness we can't appreciate the joy.
Without the darkness we can't appreciate the light.
It's the delicate balance of life.
Without our feelings we are no longer truly human.

RE: Today's thought..............

It's a sad statement about our world when most folks have to make any effort at all to focus on the needs of others before their own.

RE: Would you move to a community to have a true love soulmate?

From these statements made by the OP, I am led to believe that he is indeed either a paid recruiter or is in the beginning stages of "conversion" and will gain brownie points for bringing others along for the ride.

Gee, since it sounds like a heaven on Earth, let's all join. Then when the going gets rough, we'll sit with our "soulmate" under the shade of an ancient tree, munching organic veggies, and drink our Kool-Aid along with the rest of the "community"! And we'll all be welcomed into heaven with open arms.

RE: Would you move to a community to have a true love soulmate?

First; to answer your question, no I wouldn't. I can surrender my life to God without being manipulated and without having every facet of my life under someone's total scrutiny and control (the cult mentality and brainwashing). I make my own decisions and I am the one who knows what's best for me. Something about someone forcing me to live my life according to their standards curdles my stomach. We get enough of that from governments. I applaud those people for the strength of their faith, but people in those communities are no closer to God than anyone else and will not be guaranteed survival in a world-wide catastrophe. No amount of "love" I felt for another human would convince me to give up my free will.

Second; don't post something like this on a public forum and then expect only those who agree with you to respond.

RE: A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins

Well said, ooby. What I wouldn't give to feel that kind of love just once more in my life! A love worth fighting for. If I found a love like that and the relationship only lasted as long as my last one (23 years), I'd be a very happy woman.

But what if that undying love you feel for another is not returned and will never be? Do we continue to fight once we realize that it simply isn't going to happen? Do we deny ourselves the chance to move on and possibly find happiness just because we "think" there "might" be a chance? Somehow, I don't think so.

If I loved someone with all my heart, and that love was not returned, I would let that person go. Loving someone enough to let them find the happiness they want, even if it doesn't include me, is a very difficult thing to do. But sometimes it's the only right thing to do.

RE: lets give our support to weeboomboom

Best wishes during your difficult time and a sincere hope for your speedy return to better times.

RE: are people more selfish than they use to be.

I spent most of 26 years living basically as a hermit. After I decided to make an attempt to rejoin the land of the living, I discovered that things had changed drastically while I was away, and no one sent me the memo.

Unfortunately, we now live in a disposable world of instant gratification. It's all about "me, me, me". In relationships, if some people don't have all of their wants, needs, and desires met to their satisfaction, they're gone. Some people don't seem remotely capable of thinking of anyone but themselves. Some people seem to be too busy these days to lend a helping hand in anything that doesn't directly benefit themselves. Some people no longer seem to understand the concept of compromise or sacrifice. I've heard the following lines so many times:

Why shouldn't I have everything I want, need, and desire?
Why should I compromise on anything?
Why would I make a sacrifice for anyone, even someone I love?

Not all members of our species are like that; but what will one day become a majority are. I used to take people at face value and trust just about everyone until they gave me a reason not to. Now I trust very few until they prove their worth.

It's sad, but such is life at this point in time.

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

blushing Thank you ooby! Totally unexpected, but appreciated.

RE: Peta is worried about Pakatany (?) Phil.

They're worried about Punxsutawney Phil? He's fat, sassy, spoiled, cranky and lives the high life. I suppose they'll be picketing the festivities on February 2nd. I live less than an hour from Punxsy; maybe I should check it out.

And I suppose the PETA folks have absolutely nothing in their lives made from animals? No leather shoes. No leather interiors in their fancy cars. No leather coats. And of course they're all vegans.

Why don't they go after the NFL? More than 3,000 cows are "sacrificed" every year to make footballs for the NFL.

Google "Chely Wright Deep Down Low" and you'll find several places you can listen to the song.

RE: Audit standard

As a research junkie I can only tell you one thing: Google is your friend.

Not knowing details (type of auditing and location), I found about 129,000 sites that mention auditing standards in your country.

Hey fellas! Is the moral of this story true?

On the farm lived a chicken and a horse, both of whom loved to play together. One day, the two were playing when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink. Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help!

Off the chicken ran, back to the farm. Arriving at the farm, she searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for he had gone to town with the only tractor.

Running around, the chicken spied the farmer's new Z-3 series BMW. Finding the keys inside, the chicken sped off with a length of rope, hoping she still had time to save her friend's life.

Back at the bog, the horse was surprised, but happy, to see the chicken arrive in the shiny BMW, and he managed to get a hold of the loop of rope the chicken tossed to him. After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the farmer's car, the chicken then drove slowly forward and, with the aid of the powerful car, rescued the horse!

Happy and proud, the chicken drove the BMW back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none the wiser when he returned. The friendship between the two animals was cemented: best buddies, best pals.

A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and soon, she too, began to sink and cried out to the horse to save her life!

The horse thought a moment, walked over, and straddled the large puddle. Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his "thing" and he would then lift her out of the pit.
The chicken got a good grip, and the horse pulled her up and out, saving her life.

The moral of the story?

When you're hung like a horse, you don't need a BMW to pick up chicks.

545 People are responsible!

I just received this in an e-mail (so don't blame me for the content). Just curious about what others in the US think of this.

545 PEOPLE
By Charlie Reese
Charlie Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does..

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 apparently inept selfish human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall... No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army and Marines are in IRAQ, it's because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems..

RE: What would you do for your health

Congratulations to all of us in this thread!

It's so easy to give in to something like that. I've seen so many sit and whine and pity themselves for less than what we've all been through.

RE: What would you do for your health

Thank you! I spent 3 months following surgery flat on my back. Allowed to be up 3 times a day for 10 minutes at a time. I had very little movement or feeling from the waist down. I hate eating laying down! I then spent 2 years in a wheelchair, 2 years with a walker, and 2 years using a cane full time. During those 6 long years I was also on major doses of very heavy duty pain killers. I hated taking them, but didn't have much choice. I quit taking them more than 3 years ago and feel so much better. Yes, the pain is there all the time, but life is much more livable when you're not a zombie.

RE: What would you do for your health

More than 11 years ago I survived a minor spinal cord injury (if there is such a thing). The surgeon politely told me that I'd most likely never regain the use of my legs and I would never ride horses again. Ticked me off. It took me 6 years of incredible pain to learn to walk again and I now only use a cane on the worst days. I also ride horses again. And dance. Shows what doctors DON'T know!

I live with chronic pain, but pain lets you know you're alive. I tell myself that the pain is good because the alternative (paralysis) is much worse. As long as I stay active and keep the muscles in my legs and back strong, I do OK. When I get ill and have to spend a couple days in bed resting, I feel it. I simply refuse to give in to the pain or to the limitations. I've had to slow down some in recent years, but that could be partly my age too.

RE: America is the worlds policeman today, why do so many of us criticise their help?

America has a relatively short history, if you consider the extensive histories of other countries. To me, America is like a new bully on the block. We're the new kid on the block, but we're going to bully everyone else into playing by our rules. And we're not going to allow anyone else to become a bigger bully than we are. And we're going to stick our nose in everyone's business to make sure no one is getting any ideas about trying to take over our neighborhood.

Sad way to feel about my own country, but that's the way it is.

RE: Getting the log in

Had this happen once, years ago. Since I'm a tough country girl and he was sensitive to the cold, I got dressed and brought in more logs. Got the fire roaring again, made hot coffee, put a warm blanket on the bed for him, then started a nice hot breakfast of steak and eggs.

RE: It's the weekend !!

It's currently 26F here, the sun is shining, the sky is a gorgeous cloudless blue. It's a beautiful day! What a way to start the weekend. I've got cabin fever.

RE: Gallbladder

Settle your fears. Go the the doctor. Many years ago I had similar symptoms but didn't pay much attention to them. I was busy with raising my family and I have a very high pain threshold. When the heartburn finally got horrendous and constant, I went to the doctor. My gallbladder had been bad for quite a while (a couple years actually). Surgery would have been simple if they'd caught it early. I finally went to the doctor on a Friday afternoon. I had surgery Monday morning at 5. I now have a 10-inch scar from my sternum down along the right side of my rib cage and it took me 4 months to recover instead of just 4 weeks. Go to the doctor.

RE: How Romantic Are you?

Hi WW! Believe it or not, great care is actually taken in handling Phil. He's an obese, spoiled, crank groundhog.

RE: How Romantic Are you?

Lived close by all my life, but never went for the festivities. Have spent a lot of time in the town otherwise, and the movie, though funny, was a serious insult to the folks who live there.

RE: How Romantic Are you?

Hey Judy! Punxsy Phil lives less than an hour from me.

RE: How Romantic Are you?

Aw, Jeepers! Is that picnic your idea or Tucker's? He is such a romantic guy! With such an adorable face for pucker-up kisses.

RE: MODS versus ROCKERS

We now know where Robert stayed while he was at "banned camp". He did a quick refresher course at Brown Nose University!professor

Welcome back, Robert! You were missed.

RE: a heart felt ( i'm sorry ! )

The scammers are out for nothing more than parting someone from their money. Happens to women as well as men. Read the scam warnings and learn to spot the signs. Most scammers are pretty obvious. And you'll find that a lot of those gorgeous women you're talking to who end up living elsewhere, are actually men.

Innocent, trusting, gullible people (of both genders) have made being a scammer a lucrative profession. It's worth a dozen or two rejections when they find just one they can soak for a couple hundred dollars. I knew a man who got seriously stupid and lost $11,000 before he wised up. If someone contacts you who has a profile that sounds too good to be true, they are most likely a scammer.

Once you learn to spot the signs, scammers are a blast to play head games with. They're not as smart as they want you to think they are.
