RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

Morning all, or should I say afternoon - just got up!!
EssJay have you looked at your mail settings. First of all only set it for the age-group you want and the countries you want mail from and any other settings. That will whittle a lot of the mail down.

RE: Land Of Milk&Honey?.....But The Milk Turned Sour.......

I had no doubt six months ago the radical Islamists would see this as their ideal opportunity. As I posted then, "better the devil you know than the devil you don't know." I, and others on CS, saw this coming - it was obvious.

RE: SHould i contact my ex

I think there is no harm meeting up for a drink just to catch-up with things. You have both grown since then and your characters may be more in tune than they were just before your break-up. You split amicably and she wants to initiate contact. Only meet up if you are ready and willing to acknowledge that the relationship may progress, and are you ready for a relationship - although that may be a stupid question to ask. Do you want a relationship or are you happy staying single.

RE: If you are working, what is it that you do?

That sounds a lovely job and so satisfying - like you are really making a difference to someone's wellbeing. Yes, growing old is difficult and the UK is not too good at that with cut-backs. People are living longer now due to effective medications. No cure for ageing yet, but of course there are ways people can help themselves stay physically and mentally active although they are not always effecting. I read trials on mice of feeding cinammon slows down the onset and effects of Alzheimer's apparently. Some people just have good genes - they smoke like a chimney, have a bad diet and no exercise and they live to a good age, whereas those that take care of themselves get struck down with age-related diseases. It is rather the luck of the draw.

Ahhh the heavens cry because you have such a sweet beautiful singing voice (or you sing like a foghorn!) Nah, just kidding!

Wow, people watching. I love it. I do it often. I would do it for longer periods except the chairs are often uncomfortable in pavement cafes. I ought to take one of those kitchen chair pads with me when I go out.

Do you have a large collection of CDs and DVDs?

RE: If you are working, what is it that you do?

I love it! The NHS was making cut-backs in administrative staff and secretarial staff, so as a medical typist I set up on my own typing for doctors in the private and NHS sector. All I needed was the software and contacts. I also type for researchers in the medical field. I work from home four or five days a week, sometimes seven days. I can take time off when I want. I only miss the social aspect of working, but the benefits far outweigh those. As I am emigrating in a few months I can do the very same job there - all I need is a laptop or desktop and a broadband connection.
By the way, if anyone notices my typing errors it is because I am careless about typing other than work typing. My work typing is my living so I am more careful with spellchecks etc.
It will be interesting to hear about other people's work.

RE: Interview the person below

Well, I get all excited at the prospect of painting and glossing, but once I am doing it I think why on earth am I putting myself through this! It is like ice-skating - looks easy but isn't.

I love answering questions - but find it hard to think of one.....

Do you have a good singing voice, and if so what do you sing - singing in the bath counts!

RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

I saw a bit of that programme. Never seen it before. Food on the continent is delicious, although all that oil would make me wince a bit even healthy oil.

I am watching the programme after that one, about Ludlow. It seems a lovely place.

RE: Crystal's Scottish Lugs.....

Lone human being ruins wasps’ picnic

A summer family reunion of a wasp colony was abandoned today after the irksome arrival of a persistent human being spoiled the occasion for all concerned. ‘It’s just bloody typical,’ said the colony’s Queen. ‘You wait all summer for a day that’s nice enough to eat outside and then the second the food arrives, the only homo sapien for miles starts buzzing around everyone, and waving a rolled up newspaper around. I swear they serve no useful evolutionary purpose other than to annoy us.’

The wasps had selected the perfect site for their picnic in one of the litter bins of the children’s paddling pool at Tooting Lido. ‘We had everything we needed for a lovely family meal; half empty coke tins, apple cores, abandoned ice creams, and the corpse of a dead squirrel that had been dumped in there earlier.’ But before long the wasps’ day out was disturbed by the constant harrassment from a human being and the Vespidae family soon disagreed on the best course of action for dealing with the unwelcome intruder. ‘All the blokes thought everyone should just stay still and it would leave us alone,’ explained a furious drone. ‘But the females couldn’t help themselves and kept flapping around every time it came near one of the kids. Of course that just made it angry. So then it started attacking us with a rolled up newspaper. It was really awful; the Daily Mail I think it was.’

The picnic was eventually disbanded in frustration after a second human flitted over and tried flicking at the wasps with a towel and arguing with the other human about whether a wasp dies when it’s stung you or not. ‘They are just such a nuisance,’ sighed the Queen. ‘But we’ll try to reschedule the party for later in the year. After all, if swine flu takes its natural course, they should all be dead by the winter.’

RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

Thanks Yash. I am so annoyed - the only camera I have had have been the disposable ones, which are fine, but thought I better keep up with the times. I installed the software to get the user guide and questions and answers. I haven't taken any photos as the camera, although the battery is fully charged, just gives a message to switch it off. It's a good make and model according to all the online reviews, but I have simply got a dud one. The helpline guy on the phone said I should return it for a refund or replacement. Thing is I want a camera, but don't want to come across that problem with the second one. I will look at your websites, but I have been scouring the web and it is all top reviews for the make and model I bought. Just one of those things. But it gives me another chance to browse the shops, have lunch out, make a day of it, lol. Any excuse!

RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

My rant is I bought a very expensive camera and it is rubbish and faulty and the Helpline guy on the phone said I should return it for a replacement or refund.

RE: Interview the person below

I went straight into nursing training.

Do you like to assemble flat-pack furniture?

RE: RE: Ye Thought or Rant of the Day!!!

I just saw Lord Coe on Sky saying that had the UK known at the time of the bid about the recession, they would have doubled their efforts in the bid! Personally I think I will only be interested in the spectacle of the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony. I may be interested in the swimming as I enjoy swimming myself although of course I am not a fraction as good as the competitors. I am leaving the UK this winter for good, but if I were staying I would probably rent out my flat and escape for the duration of the Olympics as I live in one of the Olympic boroughs and could make a fortune from renting my flat out for the few weeks or so.

RE: What you all think of this??

Yes, I remember that character and remember his photo even, barechested and holding a kitten. I remember his posts too in threads that I have participated. Please don't concern yourself at all because I didn't ever find anything of sense or maturity in any of his posts. Ignore the whole thing.

RE: Interview the person below

I eat a lot of the large Jaffa oranges and clementines at the moment as I keep them in the fridge and they are really juicy. I probably eat three oranges and about four clementines every day. Too much I know!

Do you read a daily/weekend newspaper and which one?

RE: Interview the person below

I will tell you but you must absolutely promise not to laugh!

I adore the pizza, pasta and salad buffets at Pizza Hut rolling on the floor laughing

Grrr I told you not to laugh!

What is the one tv programme that isn't shown anymore that you would like to come back onto our screens?

RE: Interview the person below

Yikes - a phobia of mine are underground trains and tunnels, so no way! I have recurring dreams of them, possibly about on average two or three times a week.

Do you ever talk to yourself?

RE: Interview the person below

I have never heard of the Trip.
No - the last time I was drunk was 30 years ago and it was so awful that I vowed never to again, and of course drunkeness at a work do is a hard act to live down!

Are you happy where you live or would you like to move home?

RE: The new Layout on Forums

I love change - every few weeks I rearrange the layout of my living room furniture! Perhaps we should have the option of choosing a colour background as lots have commented it is too dark. I find it ok though.

RE: somalia

OMG I can't believe you wrote that without even investigating why there are problems in Somalia. Perhaps find out a little bit about the situation there before coming out with comments like the above.

RE: Empty thread

RE: Why I like foreign women so much?

Ok, I will ease those restrictions so you can mail me, oops, this is like pulling teeth. Email me in five minutes as I have a good suggestion about how you can meet others.

RE: Interview the person below

I would love to do that and be more organised, particularly with housework - I am so disorganised with cleaning although ok with the laundry and ironing.

What was the last film you saw at the cinema. (Bridesmaids is a good one if anyone is interested).

RE: Why I like foreign women so much?

Email me, I don't have message restrictions.

RE: The new Layout on Forums

I would hope not. I would imagine it is simply a method of disagreeing (or agreeing with a thumb's up) with someone's view, whereas in the past someone could disagree only by posting and the thread could get out of hand.

RE: The new Layout on Forums

Then we would have a "my team is bigger than your team" rolling on the floor laughing
