Actually, the constitution does extend to foriegners. As long as they are apprehended by agents of the United States or on American soil. All rights & privilages are to be extended.
The only thing does not apply , is if they are Prisoners of War..And if they are Prisoners of War, they are still protected under the Geneva Convention, which the United States did in fact sign.
Sorry, I served in the military, and I served with distiction. DO NOT EVER INSULT THAT SERVICE...I have seen things that would have most put in a coma of fear. YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to talk about things, you have no idea about.
You sit behind your monitor, and spout your hate when you have no idea what is going on over there. I have held the wives of men who have died, so don't EVER act as if you know me or anything about me, or pretend you have an idea what a soldier knows or feels...I have had a widow with her head on my shoulder because the only way she could greet her returned hero was with with him in a coffin.
Must be nice to sit there at the keyboard thinking you know who you're talking to and what they've seen and done in life.
This is going to be my last post in this thread, because it's amazing how blinded by fear that some have become.
Nowhere does it say in the constitution that the president has the right to take a man from his home, imprison them at secret locations, and then torture them.
It does say however, that no man shall be denied of life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness without due process...
In this country, due process, is not constituted as whatever the president says in the name of national security. It is really pathetic, to see Americans, allow their government to do atrocious acts of horror not in the name of national security, but in the name of fear. We are so afraid of the boogieman after September 11, 2001, that we have given the government blank checks after blank checks, to do whatever they feel is necessary in the name of national security. We have even gone so far as to allow them to modify our rights given to us under the Bill of Rights (Patriot Act). We have forgotten about the morality that this country once stood for in the world, and replaced it with the mentality of that of the neighborhood bully. As an American, I honestly feel shame for the things that we've resorted too, I find it harder & harder to say "Proud to be an American" because in a sense, what it meant to be proud of America, no longer exists. Why don't I leave you may ask? Trust me, if I could, I would have left a long time ago.
Do I think it's ok if they were to be waterboarding American soldiers? No...Absolutely not. Do I think they have done things that have been atrocities? Yes, I believe they have, and I think justice should be brought upon them.
Again, this is my last post in this thread because you can't have a reasonable conversation with those that are blinded by fear, so redicule my statement if you like, justify your position if you want, but always remember, there is no justification, no matter how high & mighty it may be, to torture another human being. It is inhumane, it is immoral, and simply, it is a war crime...and in the end, the one thing that should matter , it is just wrong to do.
No torture is meant to kill...It is meant to extract information. So you're saying that the police should be able to waterboard citizens to get information about drug shipments? or for whatever purposes they deem necessary?
not really relevant to the thread at hand, but one I've always enjoyed, ever since I read it (more of a christmas poem..I'm sure most have read it as well):
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE, IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.
I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.
I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.
NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.
WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND.
FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT, IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.
THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.
THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.
WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?
I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.
SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.
THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.
I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.
THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY.
THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE, "SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;
I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."
THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.
I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.
I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT.
THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."
ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT. "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."
I personally am against the waterboarding for one reason...We are a country that preaches that torture is wrong but yet say it's ok when american lives are at stake...The hypocracy is thick when it comes to how we are treating those we capture from the battlefield.
If those insurgents would have waterboarded American soldiers, we would have cried about it. Yes, they execute those they capture, but we should always take the moral high ground and not resort to the tactics of which we condemn. We hung people after WWII for tactics we are using today.
Personally, I don't have a problem if I am with a woman that looks at other guys...Gives me motivation to be the very best that I can be for who I am with.
Now that being said, I think it's just natural if people look at other people that are attractive, in a sense, it's a subconcious response.
Also, looking & staring are two totally different things.
Understandable, I've been to a psychward, and I'm not mentally unstable. Just was a very weak point in my life and I needed a little help to get through it. So in a sense, I sympathize.
Police can search, during a traffic stop if they choose. Basically what it comes down too is, if you don't allow a search, they can detain you , while they bring a K-9 to do the search. Kinda crazy that if you give a police officer denial of search, that in & of itself is probable cause for them to conduct a search.
RE: Update From Sassy
