DRONEon 4...

Trump is at his Mar-a-Lago retreat this weekend and that means ALL model aircraft is BANNED in a 50 mile radius of where he is staying.

ALL model aircraft.

I was in Miami yesterday and it was too windy to fly. Being hörny to hover, I brought a helicopter with me to fly at the public park in Palm Beach County where they have a model aircraft field. The place was closed. Flying is banned this weekend as Trump is in town. That's more than 25 miles away.

An all aircraft ban means if you have a rubberband powered balsa airplane and you go to a schoolyard with your kids, by law you can be arrested and have to pay a $10,000 fine.

Seriously, there is something wrong with the current flight restrictions.

Uh... no.

They blocked the ENTIRE AIRCRAFT hobby for 50 miles.
Free flight models includes FOLDED PAPER airplanes and ones made from balsa that on a windy day travel 10 yards. Banned.
Well, it's sort of understandable.
With all the hot air emanating from Trump,
those planes would probably travel great distances. laugh
If you organize a drive-by barrage of folded-paper planes, could you be busted for menacing as well as littering?
korn, I'm told they block the roads that enter near the area. I'm sure that presents a security clearance problem for the local residents and guests.
The point of my blog is all those who fly model aircraft are affected.

In order to fly at the county approve site (where I took the photo) you must be a member of the Academy of Model Aircraft (AMA) and carry liability insurance. Everyone there knows who you are. Their rules state: all aircraft must be flown 'line of sight' so you cannot wander more than 100 yards in any direction.

Some people with GPS drones (that can be programmed with weigh points that allow the aircraft to be flown a few miles from the pilot) have done some unlawful things so the rules for ALL model aircraft have changed.

That means the kid with a rubber band powered balsa plane flying in his back yard can face the same federal charges as some tabloid photographer working rogue with a $4,000 camera drone in a place where he shouldn't be trying to get candid photos... or worse, encroaching on a restricted airspace and compromising national security.
Butthurt psycho's like yourself who can't get over you lost the election are the reason why theses bans are in place . Pity you could not all be rounded up and interned or interred .
If I read the signs correctly, the field agreed to no flying on their premises.
It's unclear whether that extends to ALL flying everywhere within 50 miles.

Suspect a kid with a rubber band powered balsa plane in his backyard would be OK.

If it IS a crime, suspect the kid would be ignored anyway - prosecutorial discretion.

Should the kid be prosecuted & convicted - suspect he'd be granted a full Presidential Pardon.

And this IS April 1st wink

epirb,
This blog is about unnecessary flight restrictions. You are the psycho for trying to read into more and connect me to a lost election. Many of these bans went into effect years ago and only recently have been upgraded as rogue drone pilots have ruined the hobby for those of us who fly responsibility.

Yesterday I had to delete your comment as you (falsely) accused me of being just like the sick people who want to remove an elected leader.

Sorry you are so misguided on my blog. Keep your wild accusations to yourself. I'll leave your last comment and I mean last comment here as evidence as you wish my internment.
Probably just the usual sledgehammer to crack a nut reaction you get from governments these days, but on the other hand maybe they're using hi-tech radar to detect threats dunno I mean you wouldn't want any harm to come to your President would you uh oh laugh
