Fireworks noise
Lucy is the second dog that I've inherited when someone dies. In both cases the deaths came unexpectedly and I ended up with the dog. The first one I was only babysitting when they went to the hospital. Again in both cases neither owner left the hospital.Lucy is well known in the neighborhood from our walks and the owner prior to me walked her even more, Both owner & dog were well loved. Neighbors have been advising me that Lucy is going to be terrified during the 4th fireworks which last about four days, someone heard some yesterday but today is the day I expect them to start going off.
Lucy is five times bigger than Bella. Bella gets a little scared during thunderstorms but Lucy gets terrified and trying to hold her when she is letting off a whole lot of terror is a challenge within itself. The thunder or fireworks noise is the only time Bella wants to get in my lap but Lucy hogs my whole lap. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle this situation.
I wonder if I should try to lightly sedate Lucy? I'm not sure how though. Maybe I will call the vet or drink a fifth of rum.

Or play some Cher or Yoko Ono music so she'll be thankful when the fireworks drown out that shrill, off-key wailing.
Good luck, Fay (and Lucy)
I wouldn't recommend this one though;
Stop killing off your neighbors to get their dogs.
