Happiness if a full woodshed.

I "rent" hunting rights in exchange for firewood. Past guys bought wood, even though I have tons of dead trees to cut. Deceased tenant took over and cut. Current tenant is supposed to. But, I have come to the conclusion he is lazy. Past hunter has someone who would take hunting rights for wood. But, his crowd is a pain, wants to keep even me from walking in fall cause might scare the deer.
So talked to neighbor man who will inherit my farm. He said enough, he will talk to tenant and help. They came up with a 50/50 split, two men and kids only.
Neighbor had hauled logs from somewhere into field. Tenant had cut some and shed was half full. Weekends are for screwing off. Weekdays he works.
Neighbor told tenant we do wood Saturday. Period! So tenant posted on FB and told his kids work or no fishing or hiking.
Neighbor had enough and called his best friend. Told tenant, this is the way it is. Buddy will help him do wood and hunt, like it or lump it. Tenant agreed.
I said I would help. Boarder was going to but, as usual, work scheduled him because other gal took off.
I went over to field by noon.wow There were cars and people galore! Neighbor and son, buddy, tenant and his son and daughter and her boyfriend..add me. Truck was filled, hauled to shed and wood stacked. Logs cut, wood split. I ran the handle on splitter all afternoon while neighbor and buddy worked the chunks. Tenant cut. Shed filled with each load.
They took a break when boyfriends mom showed up with subs. I came back to the house for awhile.
When I went back down, most had gone. Tenant, neighbor and buddy. AND guy I hire sometimes had shown up. I asked if tenant called him..nope.. saw FB and didn't want to miss the party.
3 of us worked splittin, hire guy and tenant hauled. And by 4 pm, shed was full and face cord or more beyond.
Now snow can come, winter can set in and I am a happy gal with a shed full of wood to heat with.
Neighbor, buddy and tenant discussed deer hunting. Neighbor said he will make sure wood gets cut for next year..enough screwing around. Now you see why he inherits farm.

I don’t like the cold...it’s gloomy and dreary today and the past few days. blues

I’m not ready for winter just yet. It’d be my 2nd winter here....moping
Wait til you spend 70 years of winters. Many Christmas or New Years spent huddled with lamb under it's heat lamp awaiting another ewe to lamb.
I like global warming. Never want to see the winters of my youth again. Could it hurry up tho?dunno
I've lived here all of my life. I've come to the conclusion that the older I get the more I detest the cold! laugh
Mom was born in Chicago. Parents and me moved here when I was a baby. Worst winter ever for Wisconsin. Mom told dad, this is what we moved for. Maybe should have stayed in Chicago!!!
Dont get as bad snows as there tho. And as I grew, winters got milder after the 60s.
Glad I don't have to work anymore and drive into town in winter. Just go out under cover to fill wood furnace and lock up barn at night. Otherwise, hibernate.dancing sleep
At times miss my wood stove, something about it, coming out of bed into a cold kitchen and then the stove heats up, glory
Only difficult to bake in as the temperature varies so but still managed good.
This was when living is a fruit pickers shack. In the summer you only had hot water through the wood stove, yeah that was fun................not
