@la bohem: Y2K - I worked 9 months on that project at $100 per hour - and discovered nothing at all. At the same time I did issue an update to my own law-office software which was written in Microsoft Basic and which did indeed have a problem recognising 00 as 2000 and not 1900. Andersen Consulting charged some $300m to the Australian Insurance/Finance company AMP for doing not a lot. When I quit saying how boring it was, the manager said 'but you learnt our methodology' and I laughed and said 'that was even more boring!' Y2K was an exercise in pointlessness.

Been there, done that...not new at all. There were such programs back in the mid 60's from the FBI, Secret Service, especially against all student groups and politically active groups such as the Black Panthers, Black Muslims, Weathermen,etc. etc. Hounded by the whole but shorter alphabet soup groups than now. Many offered cash or drugs. Perhaps the powers that be are getting desperate or perhaps nostalgic..."for the good ol' days"...
