It doesn't care about creating an informed populace or holding the powerful to account, it cares about approval, inclusion and acclaim from its own ranks, regardless of what propagandistic reporting is required to obtain it.'This perfectly describes the vast majority of 'journalists' in mainstream western media today. They're not interested in truth or holding corruption to account. They're interested in (metaphorically) whacking each other off and serving corrupt power centers.
