Atheist VS Believer
According to google, an atheist is a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods, while a believer is an adherent of a particular religion; someone with religious faith.So what..??
I don't understand why you guys keep on and on and on arguing or debating on that topic as if doing that will make you good people and be loved. It will make you "nasty" instead. Besides, whatever you say will never change someone's mind anyway. Just a waste of energy..!!

And the 4th type, spiritual but not religious - not affiliated to a religion yet believing there is something outside mere plodding existence. More of them than of agnostics, and they can get a bit irritating, mainly because they're so vague and all they know for sure is they don't approve of any organized (i.e. money-based) religion.
Most religious believers have found peace or even answers from their belief and in this troubled and non-peaceful world want others to share their solution. Some get strident about it and I completely agree that nothing said will ever, EVER, change someone's mind, all they do is become increasingly irritating.
Most vehement atheists have been let down by God-isn't-Santa (usually at an early age, often the first time something crap happens in their lives and how could it if there was a God?) and are enraged that others can preach that belief makes everything all right. They can't let that pass because They Know Better and the more extreme become increasingly irritating.
The topic can be a welcome change from politics but bumping our gums on either religion or politics will never change anything, We Know What We Know.

Having said that, to suggest that organised religion is sacrosanct and off limits for discussion is how abuses and bigotry have thrived within them. We do need to discuss many things including, but not exclusive to, aspects of organised religion if we are to evolve our humanity.
The issue is not the discussion, but that it's not being discussed intelligently, fairly, or with humility.

@OP the OP of the article which I think gave rise to your thread was not arguing, simply presenting a thoughtful Richard Dawkins youtube presentation in which Dawkins raises valid questions. Do you think that is a waste of time? The idea is to consider them and reach your own conclusion.
