I got lucky yesterday

Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day. Thus, I decided to go to Carnegie Lake near Princeton and take some photos of the local wildlife.

After doing this, I decided to stop at a local Asian food market to buy some veggies & fruit. However, my mind was wandering and I accidently passed my turn to go into that strip mall. The parking lot is large and only has one entrance, which I inadvertantly passed. Shoot !

So, rather than turn at the light 1/2 mile up the road and then turn around and drive back, I impulsely decided to go in the exit. There was no one coming out of it. However, as soon as I made the left turn into the parking lot, a police car turned near the exit to go out. We were facing each other. Shoot Shoot Shoot ! I figured this was going to cost me both time and money. Indeed, I was likely to get points on my insurance too. Grrrr. help

So, I pulled alongside of the police car, so that our driver doors were side by side and lowered my window. Surprisingly, the cop did the same. He held his hand in front of him as if to say, "that was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen". However, he said, "what the heck ?" I shook my head and all I said was "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."

At this point I expected him to get out and give me a ticket. So, I started getting my license, insurance card and registration card together. To my surprise he just drove off. He never turned his rotating lights on. I waited a moment and then drove to a parking spot. I sort of expected him to drive over to the parking spot, but he just drove off. I did notice that there was more than one cop in the police car. So, maybe they had some sort of appointment together somewhere, or something. I don't know. Whatever the situation, I was damn lucky yesterday.

peace

Awesome, usually as a guy you always get the ticket !
Jim: The town I grew up in was once a 6 cop town...... and everyone knew everyone, and their business. So there was a lot of shoulder rubbing going on.

The town eventually grew into a city and became the regional police headquarters for our part of the state. Also, the State's police academy is not far away so cops are coming and going; and they all want to be Police Commissioner one day. laugh

Ah well. On the positive side, there's now 10 times as many cars on the road but the road toll is way way down on what it used to be. cheers
Billy - I've never lived in a town even close to being that small. I guess there are pluses & minuses to that.
