Life Strategies
Do you know what you are going to do today? Tomorrow? In one month, year, decade? Do you plan it or you go with the flow?Do you have a route map in your life travel or you just wander about :)
Do you make little steps or do you sprint?
Do you follow the ancient moto:
Festina lente ("Make haste slowly")
or Shakespear's verses:
There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries.
Do you stop here and there and explore other paths, enjoy the scenery, the sunrise/sunset? Or you concentrate on the distance and the direction?
I personally, like to plan things and to act with clear purpose. I have great patience and put all my efforts in what I follow. On the other hand, I can be impulsive and grab the moment when I feel it.
I believe that there is a lot of truth in the saying:
Our destiny depends on our personality.

Your approach is shared by many. We usually have vision for the closest "distance" and refrain from planning things in the long run. Maybe our dreams and hopes substitute such long-distance planning.
I hope your cat will recover fast! I love cats, I have a ginger little tiger myself
Go with the flow, love surprises, spontaneity, hate routine, have to have for work I guess but even then, my day can change in a phone call - and I love the challenges that might bring.
In literature (and life), the plot very often doesn t develop according to the reader's expectations. Many writers admit that they don t know the plot development in advance, cause it has its own life and logic.
I like your point of planning only the small steps. I firmly believe in Voltaire's Candid last words: "Let us cultivate our garden". For me, it means to focus and work on ourselves and our tasks. And the other will come.
Going with the flow... I always connect it with my favorite swimming images. I like swimming in the sea towards the sun and I go quite far out. Then I just lay on the water and let it embrace me. That s going with the drift/flow and I love it every now and then :)
But it seems life has plans for me too.
This is the drudgery of life.
Choosing what you want and making it fit with what others want for you.
I think it is important that we set ourselves goals,
Short term, Mid term, and of course Long term.
Also we must work out how we can achieve theses goals, so maybe having little goals in between may help.
There is of course times when things do not got according to plans, so goals must reflect that as well.
Example,
Instead of giving yourself 12 months to find the love of your life, (well this is a dating site), maybe a better goal would be just to meet as many possible in 12 months, that way the love of your life maybe the first twenty-fifth person or the thirty-eighth person you met.
If goals are time specific, they may tend to fall, so i make my goals as flexible.
So far i have achieved
Marriage, (although now divorced), Children, Grandchildren (well at least one thus far), Owning a home, being able to travel, and to be of reasonable health.
Interesting Questions Jana.
I like your point about "flexible plans". Honestly, I don t like it much when my plans have to be changed but from a next perspective I always see it happened for a good reason and I believe that in the end things order themselves in the best way.
Hence why i think having flexible time constraints to achieve goals helps us remain much more positive.

As about the X (unknown) factors, not sciene nor religion have been able to give an adequate enough answer of the factors that rule our life and its direction. There is the free will of the humans. There is God/the Fate/The Chance. And what is the balance between them? Is everything determined and we are puppets on strings or we can do whatever we want to (voluntarism)?
I strongly believe in one thing: That we are given choices in every moment of our life. (Except the initial choice: to be born or not. Some philosophers protest against the violation of our free will by us being deprived from the choice whether to be born or not. Others say that the souls, which are eternal, choose whether/and when/and how to incarnate/to be born).
The right of choice is a sacred right we have.
well, maybe you have an idol ??? Alain Delon, or maybe another famous people ??? we can take many lessons from them...
