POLLUTION -ITS EFFECT IN OUR ENVIRONMENT/HEALTH

One of the downside of our progressive life is the creation of so many industries that not only pollute the earth but known to have a very negative health impact in our lives.

In 1970, the US Environmental Protection Agency was formed and last year has 15, 913 employees with a $7.901 billion dollar annual budget.

It was primarily conceived and created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment during the Reagan's administration.

Today, it prides itself in creating and maintaining the national standards on the enforcement of laws for the said purpose.

But this is only in the US. The purpose of this blog is to create awareness for us all citizens of the world to participate and cooperate in such an astronomical responsibility, after all, we have only one earth, yet so far that sustains human life that we know of. While science has a continued effort and success in finding so many similar planets that can sustain life, it is not clear yet as to how we can reach those planets to become habitable for us human.

I am inspired to create this blog due to the enormous negative impact of other countries who might not have the same programs like we do. I am very aware that in some third world countries like my birth country, the Philippines, pollution is one of the worst problem we have when it comes to human health.

Our population growth is rising fast, yet we are not globally united in this effort that I know of. In fact I am aware how most of us are not taking the responsibility seriously expecting the government to do it all for us. I read the new law under the Obama administration on checking the new system of extracting gas from under the surface of the earth called FRACKING.

Any opinions on how we can contribute to this growing concern? And what can we do specifically in our place to create awareness and responsibility? What would happen if we continue to harm our environment?

Thank you all for your contributions, opinions and comments.

Thanks Non, you made my day Non and yes, do bring anything you want, although I can tell you that everything is much cheaper here now than your Euro so be keen on what you bring and we can have fun garage shopping.

Remember the books we talked about? Even Atlas Shrugged, it will cost no more than a buck sometimes.

So come..
I wouldn't suppose it is in my judgement to know that now guadal, would it? After all, there is about 9 million of visitors alone that visit my State, and this is not including business trips.

So for my invitation, guadal, including you wouldn't be a number worth enough to worry about, don't you think?

So yes, I can invite anybody as long as I am aware it is not for terrorism and if I fail to note that, I am sure our TSA and Defense would be able to take care of that. My take guadal.
You just made me laugh very to my delight guadal..
So what do u plant and how do u water it? Spraying, preserving?
Maybe it is more convenient to buy it in a mall or supermarket.dunno
If u like shopping.

Yes on the convenience of shopping. We do have a ysar round open farmer's market Guadal and there's plenty of choices that are brought from the valley to the North Bay anx sometimes itz worth going there and support the community.
found a huge report on Solid waste management in asia with contribution from most countries. I have no idea if any follow ups by countries were inplemented.

Thing you will need to copy link and paste in url bar
Fun, that was a good report on what the other countries in Asia about Solid Waste Management, This report was for 2007 and of course with the 11 member countries including the Philippines and a budget of $47 million dollars from the second year, it is a remarkable step. A rather limited budget, considering the amount of pollution all these countries generate.

I hope that it is still functional and meet all the necessary measures to improve such a very malignant illness to our earth.

Thanks fun and it would really be good for everyone if we can unite and concern our lawmakers to initiate a very responsive application to improve our environment and thereby lead to the key that would promote a healthy life.

Thanks again.
in the uk in the 70's we use to have advert saying keep Britan tidy...and a heavy fine for littering...that is one of my pet hates people who litter..In the Middle East its disgusting the amount of litter they all chuck out the windows
See Ian? Maybe we can create awareness to these people and even then it takes a lot of effort to train them. I know that. Yes when I was in England several times, it used to be so clean, in the last ten years, it got worse..Very correctable bad habit Ian. And now you agree, this is a very timely need to help the world and 7 billion people get to the acceptance that we need everyone to join hands on this project. Clean up earth...

Thanks..
lindsyjones still see a lot of merit in an in school education program, a child can change there adults attitude. But how one gets a government to move on something like this, and I believe a low cost highly productive program, I have no idea. most of the report I posted and other formed committees don't seem to get anything happening. Just big reports on the problems.
Yes indeed, Fun, as a matter of fact I'd say that's the biggest line of hope we have, the youths who is truly the future of this tired earth.
Thanks again
Good morning Guadal, its 8:00 am in California and just woke up.
How's your side or that earth?
Time difference seems to be 8 hours.
Are there mushroom books for a buck, too?
good luck
Plenty and we have so much mushroom here Guadal, Google Armstrong Redwoods and l live an hour away.

If you love trees Google Seuioa Trees, too, up in Fresno four hours away

Let me know
Thank u very much for the hint. Of course it would be intersting to me to see once in a lifetime such old growth stands, though there is an exotic forest 8 km from here with both giant and coastal sequoias. Not as old and big of course.
More challenging seem to be the trails to the giant sequoia stands. But u will need lots of time, I guess to see more than a little bit. And Armstrong Reserve is only about 300 ha big.

wave handshake kiss
Buenos dias mi amigo Senor Guadal.

I am so glad you have checked the magnificent, most rare and unusual gift of nature to man. And to think that it is within easy reach from where I stand. Coincidentally Guadal. Luther Burbank, please google also, declared that my County, Sonoma is the most chosen place on earth as far as ground, fertility is concerned.

Personally, though, I would consider more of San Joaquin Valley, which is located 115 miles North of LA. It is the seat of the Almond and Carrot capital of the world. I had a two acres there for 7 years and I still have copies of my garden that just absolutely provided me food and sold in the Farmer's Market with the help of my children. I was certified Organic grower for 4 years. And now they are initiating the planting of Olives as the shortage of supply is reaching an unusual high according to the economic reports last year (Newsweek report, which I got a copy).

Anyways, yes Guadal, there are so many good things about the agriculture part of this area which provides a lot of carbon dioxide on the air that we breath.

So yes you can come and I am looking forward to it.
On the other note Guadal, if you truly want to experience a very religious communion with nature, book yourself a trip to Queensland, Australia, Daintree, and you will witness, a most rare and the only left UNSPOILED nature left in the world. How we, humans are so insignificant to this magnificent life gifted us by NATURE OR GOD, however suits your belief. I have written so many poems for those experience..

Some of these trees are actually taller than that of the Great Sequoias but not as massive..
Mi querida Senhora,

unspoiled in which way? U see e.g. DDT was found even in the Arctic and Antartica, though it was never sprayed there.
But there are still lots of "unspoiled" places. Just think of national parcs in New Zealand, the mountains of Papua, Tundra and Taiga, deserts or uninhabited islands.
Carbon dioxide is not really the problem. Plants would grow much better with a content ten times higher than nowadays. All the fixed CO2 in calcareous rocks will never be set free by human industries.
Pollution is bad indeed when it comes to chemicals, plastic, radioactivity or smog.
But organic farming alone does not keep people from developping cancer.
Perhaps u can find out if this disease is unknown to uncivilized, wild people. But there r not many left.

Have u done some hiking on Sequoia trails?
Yes my goodness mi amigo, isn't it amazing how they traced that element? Yet it wasn't ever sprayed there?, just confirms the fact that our air circulates within the global sphere of our earth. and it does affect all the environment and it is so good that it is already banned..

Gracias mas mi amigo.
What would happen if we continue to harm our environment?

We're ruining our planet one day at a time. professor
