Why Obesity is rampant in the US

I don't normally eat in a buffet restaurant but the new Japanese/Chinese opened up a few blocks from my home sounded very enticing.

I checked the menu and it seemed very healthy and interesting mix of food selection.

Voila, I have never seen so many people that are so overweight and eating like there is no tomorrow. I was thinking to myself, of course, this is one of the reasons why there is such a big problem in our country on obesity. We are of no self control to stop eating even when we are full because it is there. Then I thought of the skinny people in Europe. At least in France, although even in Switzerland, there is not too many overweight that I have seen whenever I visit there. Not as much as in my country anyways.

Every time I go there and visit Europe, when we were not eating out, my friend and I go to the supermarket, and look at the selections of foods and they are packed very small and very lean. Compared to my country, gosh it is mostly in large quantities. Okay, so we don't have to spend too many trips shopping for food. (I have always bought mostly my groceries to Costco and or Vons in California, while in the Mid West, Byerlys is a good place).

The point of this blog is to make sure that even if we go and eat in a buffet, we must not forget that overeating causes extra food stored in the fat cells. The problem is if we won't burn it, you know what happens.

Note:1. I have read about last year published on Time Magazine that our Health programs is enough to bankrupt our economy in the next 20 years if we don't improve our individual health and control our eating habits.

Only eat what our bodies can burn. I know it is easier said than done but we can do it. My children unfortunately are not as slim and skinny as me, but they are trying hard. Then they blame me for marrying an Irish man with big bones and heavy frame. lol.

Anyways, thanks for reading and sharing your opinions.

This is not about making fun and or insulting the big and heavy people. This is about improving our lives and be healthy.

Note: 2. Billions of dollars are spent on wasting foods, and then billions of dollars are spent on losing weight. Go figure.bouquet

Don't despair too much Rolf, there's hope. Here in the US, organic food is gaining momentum. People are tired of these food that are not healthy.

Awareness is important and insist on going organic.
Sands thanks for this valuable information. bouquet
lindsy,

My Son got somewhere in August a Business group from Norway to invest heavily with him....in that Business group are 8 different investors and one of them is the biggest investment Fund in Norway.

They want him to concentrate on USA and they have people, that give him personal support in what ever is needed and as he was the most important lecturer in a resent Biotech conference in USA,where FDA and also wheelchair People was on the place, they checked how well he was understood by the audience.

The company my Son put up into what they put in the investment money are prepared for to go in the right moment into the USA stock market.

They have also made a decision to invest in Antigua, with all the money needed, for to build a special Medical Hospital and Lab,as also the needed rehab, all on my Land,so they are very serious in their investment support....there is still a problem that has to be solved with the Antigua Government, before anything can start.

Unfortunately everything looks to take to much time, but the good thing is,that the product is there...the next problem is to learn more about the technique in operations and how many and what grade of power in the Stem Cell should be used in different cases...in Russia they used hands to inject into the Spinal cord, when in USA they use robot tech....He used Russia mostly to get results, that put the West to have no other choice, than to cooperate with him,no matter how much the big Pharmacy companies, try to stop him.

The next spinal cord operations are going to be made in Canada,England or Norway, but depending on the possibilities,it could be that there are going to be operations in everyone.

So it is all on the way,but as one Man against the big ones,it is not any easy road to walk on.

Anything that improves life Rolf is a good one.
I hope we'll see his project become global. WE need people like him to make life better. Thanks Rolf for the info. Stay healthy and don't buy those big tomatoes from US. From April TO October we have farmer's market and I strongly recommend people to go buy there. wine

Red wine is good, too Rolf. Just not too much.

It seems to me we are growing foods that take less time to produce and in doing so...we have forgotten that vegetables and fruits are more nutrient packed are of the heirloom variety...they are more expensive to produce...but better for us...as consumers...we need to voice our opinions about what we want to consume...including what our expectations on how our meat industries practice in regards to hormone/antibiotic practices not to mention free range and feed...

If we want to be healthy...the government should not endorse GMO's or other practices that reduce the nutrition content in our foods...

Hello dear Lou, yes indeed. I was so mad to see in a documentary about what they do to those chicken Lou. Disgusting. GMO is an absolute nono for me. Imagine what it does to our bodies. And not burning them is another thing. There are now calories that are put in every fast food restaurant about the calories of each combined food in the menu.

But you are right, the government should regulate and impose on no GMO Lou. But of course guess what money possibly spent on the lobbying of these products. Just create awareness of the disadvantage of these products. I don't buy them at all Lou.bouquet

I try to buy foods that are organic and read the nutrition content of foods to prevent purchasing GMO foods...better to stop buying prepackaged convenient foods...try to shop in the outer isles that are mostly stocked with fruits, vegetables and dairy...more healthier and fortunately we do have choices with free range not to mention raised without hormones/antibiotics... wine
Yes that is why I don't eat those packed chicken where they can't even move so as to fatten them. It is so sad how they are packed in a very small place just to make the maintenance cheaper. I don't eat much chicken anyways Lou. Healthy is the key to a very happy life and I am determined to be in control of what I eat Lou.bouquet

Thanks for your input.wine
I spend my energy growing my own vegetables, meat and milk. It is good food, but not so pure as it could be. The soil is probably contaminated by all chemicals that is used all arround.
Bloody that is very good. Simply natural but it is okay if you are not sure about the soil. I guess there is nothing much you can do about it, is there?

Thanks for joining in.wave bouquet
As far as I am concerned, a buffet means a variety of food spread out for you TO CHOOSE what you want to eat and not eat everything in sight!

The problem with our society, not only in the US but also in developed countries is gluttony. We want to eat as much as possible, buy the biggest house and own the most expensive cars. That can be very stressful and sometimes depressing.

With gluttony comes waste. We over eat, over buy and it becomes a vicious cycle. For a healthier lifestyle, we should be more disciplined with ourselves. Eat only when hungry, buy only whenever or whatever is necessary.

I have been taught that moderation is key in whatever we do.

Just sharing my thoughts. Thank you for reading.
