Sneazles
Sudden rush of colds and flu and even - gasp - manflu around at the moment. So how do you cheer yourself up when your head feels like someone has poured concrete through your ears, your nose has been blown so often it is sore to the touch, everything tastes like mud, and you ache from head to foot? I've been sneezed on from all directions at work today. I've seen the future, and it isn't pretty.EDITED COMMENT. I'M NOT SICK - YET. THE WHOLE WORLD AROUND ME IS SICK AND BREATHING GERMS OVER ME. I WANT TO BE READY FOR IT. And now I will stop shouting.
So. How do you handle this thing if it happens?
Take to your bed and call croakingly for a cup of tea before you remember, damnit, you're single. (Lucky you with those who will bring a cup of tea!)
Hot bath, hot toddy, and a pile of blankets?
A bottle of brandy? Hic
Chocolate?
I'm of the chocolate persuasion myself but I just wondered if anyone had good ideas.
Oh, and I'm told if you blow your nose every time you sneeze you will never have a cold. If you leave a peeled onion next to the bed, your cold will be gone by morning. Or smear Vicks on your feet and put on heavy wool socks to kill a cough stone dead.
So if you don't have a way to feel better, maybe you have a guaranteed cure ...

I use a cold remedy that helps shorten the course of a cold or flu...ask your pharmacist...hope you feel better soon...
I'm amazed I made it this far through the winter without catching the dreaded lurgy so I doubt I'll escape.
Hope you feel better soon and get rid of it before you travel over.
hope you feel better heard about the onion thing, but heard place options on your bed stand for 3 days and then burn them......place onions out again...repeat and or place Vick or honey hot mustard on the bottom of your feet as you said with socks, repeat for 3 days and if you sneeze, blow your nose and it's "green" mucus color.....you your sick or if you sneeze, folktales say, getting the devil out of you....that's a good thing
hope u feel better soon
I rarely get a cold in the first place because I eat so much fruit and veg but when I do I douse it in high UMF manuka and turmeric and Vit C.
It tends to decide it cause more misery in somebody else, and leaves
I'm so selfish - but actually I don't expect pampering myself. Cups of tea and fresh tissues at regular intervals, throw the occasional bar of chocolate through the door, and I would be extremely grateful and want no more
so far so good - fingers crossed!
Must be because I live in the heaviest polluted stretch in
Canada. The only thing that cures them is time.
Sorry. I'll think up something better next time.
area, the air is beautiful.
etc, means you can pick up the airborne virus quite easily.
Too funny...I have been ripped to shreds there on that political thread by angry ultra right wingers and the Trump defenders...lol...
Rather enjoy the blogs...much tamer crew...
Lots of threads but you know where to look...
If you do put an answer on this blog, make sure you hint a lot. Use euphemisms based on, hmm, anything really.
Would hate it to be deleted before I get to read it!
You missed worms
I'm lucky I live in a temperate climate which allows me an outdoor lifestyle for the major part of the year .. I walk everyday and cycle 2-3 times a week, weather permitting.
My long-held vegetarian diet seems to suit and helps keep my weight down; I also think a positive attitude helps plus being grateful for having a healthy body as I grow older
Mind you I think they were male scientists.
On a similar note, that guy musing about women saying scoffingly that giving birth is FAR worse than getting kicked in the goolies. Maybe so, he said, how will we ever know? However many women decide to have a second child. He has never met a man who thinks he is ready for a second kick in the goolies.
Warmth, empathy, saying nice things, full marks
Actual useful suggestions - not so much. Lots of too-healthy-to-be-sick people trying hard not to sound smug. A couple of alcohol options. A man shouting unclean. Cures? Huh.
I suppose the old sayiing is true, treat a cold properly and it will be gone in a week. Ignore it, and it will hang on for as long as 7 days.
So far so good. Not even a blocked nose. Fingers crossed ...
