I am my hair.

So my hair is my crown. My beautiful black mane defines my feminity, personality and perhaps my status or even state of mind. I took out my cornrows a month ago and decided against braids because my sculpt still hurt. So I've been rocking my afro... tangled, uncontrollable and as African as can be. I've noticed people don't look at me the same with my afro. No more lengthy looks from the opposite sex or those I want to be you stares from women? Am I less dedesirable because of my kinky hair?
Less professional, less refined polished whatever?
Well I beg to differ. I chose to keep my kink because it's a choice just like a weave. I'm just as desirable, just as smart just as feminine. So yes I am my hair and I'm okay with not having it straight. But don't judge because it's just crown it adds to my beauty. And never takes away from it.Please don't treat me like it has.

Certain types of people have cornrows and certain types have wild hair, you are the same person but you have changed type and will get a different kind of attention.

If you like it, you won't change again. If you don't, you will try another look. Human nature. dunno

For me I've always felt my hair was best feature and I never wanted to change it.

My hair was my father's pride and joy and also of many men who followed.

I like it how it is..The length..The colour and the style and it shows my feminine side. banana
I like hair, its one of a woman's best features.
So, we're talking about massive 70's bush. Nothing can be done about it.

any less feminine? The answer is no.
Wear your hair the way you want to.

I did a blog on a neighbor that always thinks for me. She wanted me to cut my hair. My reply was, "Yolanda, cut your own hair"!
Oh Jaydene, I just love that women are going natural with their afros. Finally! I love the look. I have no idea what it's like to take care of super curly hair as mine is stick straight and fine mumbling but I wish I could go fro. :)
Thank you all for the comments. My intention last year, when i had shorter hair was to grow an uncontrollable afro. Just to challenge the status quo. I'm not against weaves or straight. But my hair may not define but it sure says a lot about me.
African people either hate their hair or love it...coz you can't do much with it.ive run my hands through Kenyan and Ethiopian..too thick.!
