Movie Review - "Yes Man"

Last night I watched a movie I had not previously seen. It stars Jim Carrey as a man who is emotionally damaged from the ending of a short term marriage. crying He has essentially shut himself off from society by simply ignoring friends and new experiences.

This changes however, when he accidently runs into an old friend, who recommends that he attend the seminar of a motivational speaker. professor The speaker challenges him by making a covenant that he says "Yes" to ALL things he encounters. Naturally, this often leads to not only funny uncomfortable situations, but even disasterous outcomes. However, he also discovers that this can lead to enjoyable adventures, the admiration of his boss & past wife and even a new romance. As he learns to become a bit more selective in using "yes", he re-discovers love love and the joy of life itself.

I give the movie 7 stars out of 10 and well worth the rental. It was not quite as good as two of Carrey's previous excellent efforts; "Liar Liar" and "Bruce Almighty", but I would certainly rank it third best of all his movies. I recommend it. Let me know what you think of it, after you've seen it. peace

i saw this movie and i thought it had great and hilarious moments that had me rolling on the floor and was a bit reminiscent of liar liar- i think i gave it an 8 out of ten. But then again i still remember "fire marshall bill" from the show In living colour and crack up just looking at himrolling on the floor laughing
That was how he broke into the scene. laugh
Prior to that he did stand-up comedy.
I agree with earthangel01! Good movie. I too, give it an 8 stars out of 10 for the entertainment value alone. Definitely not one of Carrey's best for acting, but very entertaining and unique. I was definitely laughing, he's a very funny guy when he's working within the framework of a really good storyline and a worthwhile concept. applause cheering dancing banana peace
I loved it! Heck, I even tried out the suggestion and said "yes" when my Mom invited me (for the n'th time!) to attend their belly-dance class, and I got myself a whole new hobby! head banger laugh
applause i saw too this movie ...is prettyy FUNNYYY laugh

I have and I liked it!! It was a very unique movie, very different, that's why I liked it. Imagine, a man's life on TV from birth to adulthood, what a concept!!! grin cool
applause YES! I did watch this movie a few weeks ago. It was actually quite good and did have several laugh-out-loud moments. I would rate it about 7/10

I recently posted a video of "Bruce Almighty" on my video list, which I watched the other night. I would say that's a slightly better movie, in my humble opinion.
