Maybe, just maybe, you lose your best friend but gain a brother-in-law?
I do remember my brother being absolutely horrified when his best friend started chatting me up, but then I'm 6 years older than my brother and he couldn't believe his friend would be interested in anyone so ancient

My 2018 started out like how my 2017 ended.
My sister was married to one of my friends to be divorced 25 years later. They discovered early on that they were not getting on but stuck it out together to see their children getting their education. Our friendship survived and my sister are as close to me as ever.
