...Hardly a stretch, considering the history of mistreatment of her people, in the name of a now failed political-economic theory. As evidenced by countless harebrained national schemes, forcing all but the higher ranking Party members to suffer through. Great leaps backward, Cultural devolutions, metal smelters in every peasants back yard, countless collective agriculture famines, Vietnam/Nepalese/Tibetan adventures, empty apartment blocks and bridges to nowhere, Uighur and other KZ camps for non-Han minorities, one child edicts, etc.

The F.D.A. gave emergency approval to Eli Lilly’s antibody treatment.
The Food and Drug Administration has granted emergency authorization of a Covid-19 treatment made by Eli Lilly that was given to Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor, when he was infected with the coronavirus.
The authorization, announced on Monday, applies only to people newly infected with the virus, and the agency said it should not be used in hospitalized patients. The treatment is approved for people 12 and older, who have tested positive, and who are at risk for developing a severe form of Covid-19 or being hospitalized for the condition. That includes people who are over 65 and obese, the agency said — a key group that early studies have shown can benefit the most from the treatment.
Eli Lilly said that its treatment, called bamlanivimab, should be administered as soon as possible after a positive test, and within 10 days of developing symptoms.
“It’s a great day for science and medicine — sort of a feat of what’s possible,” said Dr. Daniel M. Skovronsky, the chief scientific officer of Eli Lilly. The company and its collaborators, including the National Institutes of Health, he said, were able “to create a new drug, manufacture it, test it in clinical trials, and get it authorized for use in just seven months.”
In October, the company announced that it had reached a $375 million deal to sell 300,000 doses of the treatment to the U.S. government. Eli Lilly said Monday that it will begin shipping the treatment immediately to AmerisourceBergen, a national distributor, which will then distribute it on behalf of the federal government.
The treatment consists of a single powerful antibody that is believed to keep the infection in check, and has been shown in early studies to reduce emergency room visits and hospitalizations in patients who get the drug early in the course of their disease. It is similar to the treatment that President Trump received, made by the Westchester biotech company Regeneron, which is a cocktail of two antibodies. Regeneron has also applied for emergency authorization.
Mr. Christie disclosed this fall that he had received the Lilly treatment on an emergency basis after he was infected with the virus.
Eli Lilly’s authorization raised immediate questions about who would get access to the treatments, which must be infused in a clinic or hospital. The company has said it expects to have enough to treat one million people by the end of the year. That means, even in the best case scenario, there won’t be nearly enough to curb a virus that is now infecting an average of over 111,000 people a day in the United States.
“It’s kind of the best times for these therapies to enter, because they can have an impact,” said Dr. Walid Gellad, who leads the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing at the University of Pittsburgh. “It’s also the worst time because we don’t have enough doses, and it’s going to add to the backlog of testing.”
By Monday evening, over 100,000 new U.S. cases had been recorded for the sixth consecutive day and more than 59,000 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized, nearing a record. Seven states and Guam set daily records for new cases.

Angel, the worst I've seen of him...
I got a call from a friend Brian who watches over another friend Angel who happens to live in my community. Angel has been renting from an uncle for many years. He doesn't own a car, he relies on the shuttle bus from the community and Brian to get him to appointments when a bus is impractical.
Brian called last night to say it's a few days he hasn't heard from Angel and asked if I could stop by to check on him. I did. Angel came to the door in boxers and slippers and hadn't shaved in a few weeks. He looked horrible.
The reason he wasn't answering the phone is the ringer was turned off and he doesn't know how to get it back on. The neighbor has his phone to figure out how to get the ringer to work!
I asked if he was okay and he is having difficulty breathing. As a life-long smoker he said he quit and his body is reacting by coughing up things...
At this point, Angel is withering away. I won't make any predictions, but I hope is health improves. I already lost one friend this year who had lung cancer.

Blister Pack...
Blister pack is a type packaging used for pharmaceuticals and foods. A preformed plastic 'tray' with indentations (blisters) holds each dose of medicine. Attached to the plastic is usually foil coated paper that seals the contents. The user has to bend the plastic at the corner lifting the foil to expose the contents. In theory, it's pretty simple. In realty, it can bring on an episode of Tourette syndrome.
I picked up my 90 day refill of hypertension medicine and the package was much larger than expected. I questioned if they had the right medicine and the pharmacy technician apologized. They were out of bottled stock at the distributor and only blister packs were being shipped.
As expected, the blister package I received doesn't break open at the corners as instructed. I have to cut it open with a razor knife!
I'll probably open a bunch and repackage them into a bottle so I don't have to waste time fumbling with a knife and a blister pack each day.

It appears there's no reason to wear a mask at the White House as everyone working there has COVID-19 and under quarantine.

My suggestion... If you plan to have a tour of the White House on Columbus Day, it would be a good idea to postpone that trip!

The list of those who work at the White House who are affected by COVID-19 has grown sharply. Thursday, it was president Trump and the first lady Melania that followed after Hope Hicks. On Friday, Kellyanne Conway made the list. I believe that makes seven.
I think it's because they aren't following guidelines established by the CDC.
