Income inequality...the gig economy...

A pair of related downsides of rank free markets. But in the latter case, new depths, apparently. "Micro work". Home based computer contract work, often at less than USD 1.00 per hour, if payment actually ever happens. Busy beavers might very rarely hit over USD 5 hourly, for 14 hour days. Boring work, on personal medical, product choice, lifestyle and other records data, gathered by the likes of facebook. Seems like it gets used to develop more 'human' AI. Was where expected, in dirt poor (Venezuela workers' paradise) countries. Now in the richer West. Nice. Check out the ethnicities of the rich suits behind this disgrace. Facebook, others.

I think I figured it out

I think that I first have to post and then include pics using the edit feature? I would have asked but I think it's bad blog etiquette and maybe even against the rules. Testing 1 2 3....

The peace deal with the Taliban....

....sure, we all want to see peace for the people of Afghanistan, and the region. No shortage of rare earth elements in that neighborhood. The altliberals will of course spin it otherwise, but all can see how this occurred largely with support from our Brilliant and Dazzling President Trump. The facts. After the Taliban got licked, with hearts and minds/militarily, and both sides saw little hope for a permanent military solution, and the Sunni religious radicals apparently cut ties with even more marginal groups, such as al Qaeda, the talks got moving. Recall, this is a decades long costly struggle, two decades for the USA. The Brits and Russians are hip, as well. And all know of the oppression of women, young school age girls, and many lovers of music, and much more, while under the Taliban. Not to mention thousands of amputees from the many car/truck bombing attacks, largely on innocent civilian Muslims. But I think this is one more brilliant example on the now dozen long list of campaign promises kept. All well know that for these radical religious leaders in the religion of peace, that this is merely an heuristic move. The Taliban has changed little---how could they, they are deeply into religious righteousness? Soon enough, the Afghan females will suffer once more. It's business, for Mr.Trump, mostly of keeping promises, which others have fraudulently made, such as the affirmative action last POTUS, and of cutting losses. By analogy with Nixon's Vietnam "Peace with Honor", where the final triumph of the North was long in the cards, and the populace had had enough of the costs, on most sides, it's simply an exit for the USA and allies. But for less than auspicious signs, don't take my word for it. The main message of the parades by the Taliban today, is "victory over the USA". The shameless spin of the alt lefties, will of course be, that It's merely a political move for a mandate in November. Which it surely, rightly also is. But we Yanks, and the West, have at least learned a few lessons concerning hegemony. Namely, if backing any group militarily, be sure their side has a large dose of religious righteousness on board. As with the (much later to fail) religion of Communism, in Vietnam. And we're not at all saying that the new region under the Taliban will be a near future ally as Vietnam to the USA, against China. But the dollar speaks. Much better in business than wasted in conflict.

She didn't follow my latest design... oops!

A designer I worked with a few years ago took an assignment in a foreign country. I didn't ask, but the pay must have been enough for her to pack up and relocate. She contacted me with a request to do the design for her younger sister's bathroom renovation. I said yes and to my surprise, the sister already started some of the demolition, ordered custom glass doors and was getting bids from a few contractors.

The goal was to enlarge the bathroom by taking the wall out to the adjacent closet. Okay, I get it... where do you plan to relocate the closet? They had no idea.
Since it wasn't a bearing wall, she was okay with taking a few feet from the living room in order to enlarge the bedroom in compensation for enlarging the bathroom.
I took measurements, asked 30 questions and came up with a design... It was totally different than what was in her or her sisters heads.

She said she was 'blown away' I was able to make everything fit. She loved it.

My statement was "Thanks, but it's only the first round concept. We need to confirm if what I'm suggesting is doable. Plumbing, electrical and air conditioning duct work will need to be moved."

One of the requests was to locate the main wall more toward the living room from where I showed. The problem there was the custom glass door was in production and no changes could be accepted. That means the opening for the door has to be shifted a few feet. It's an exterior wall and expensive to relocate.

I resubmitted drawings showing the enlargement/revisions while she got a price from the contractor and was going in the direction of "Let's do it" but her older sister said, wait... this needs more thought. I agreed, since my dimensions were only concept and they knew I had to return to remeasure and get exact sizes.

On Tuesday, the younger sister said she made a decision and wanted to get started right-away. I couldn't go yesterday, but made it a point to go there today.

Thinking they would start in a week or two, I was surprised to find all the demolition was done. The contractor tore up the place. The floor tile was gone, all the interior partitions removed, gutted electrical and a/c duct work hanging from the ceiling.

The "Oh shit" exception: He already built and drywalled the wall between the bedroom and living room according to the OLD SET OF DRAWINGS. The sister wasn't working with the revised set I emailed 2 weeks ago. I spotted this mistake immediately as the revision had the wall about 4 inches from the door casing and I could see it was more than a foot.

I had a set of revised drawings with me as I was going to put my new dimensions on them. Too late for that. I gave that set to the contractor who will move the wall he installed today and will work through the changes to fit the conditions.

Hopefully they won't charge her too much to move the wall, probably a few hundred in labor.

It's a good thing I caught that mistake before all the electrical, a/c and plumbing was done. Otherwise, she would have to accept it the way it was, or pay a few thousand to have the changes made.

Another record

Hey, GG. I've also been here for a while, since almost as long as the good Lord made dirt. And as many know, I can have sharp typing fingers. Threatened one time by a drunken immigrant Swiss female, "I'd like to put a hot poker up your arse." And by one Ozoid male, who likely misunderstood things, and said "I'll break both of your arms and legs". Could have heard many more such things.
Placing both in context, the first involved alcohol, so nuff said. The second may have been similar, and when I discussed it with an elite soldier, a family member, who understands conflict at many levels, he said, not to worry at all. "Is he living next door or 10,000 Km away? Was the physical threat impossible to complete, anatomically? And several other such questions. He then said, "Bar tenders hear these things around closing time, when the frustrations of another lonely night, and a lonely morning hangover beckon. Fear and envy, rather than any real threat." Nuff said.
This is a well designed site, and provides different things to many. But for me, the many ancillary features here, such as blogs, help fulfill the basic roles of searching for committed companionship, and of course entertainment. As such, we all reveal ourselves, often in boast, and anger, in various manners. In my own way, I try to inform, to correct the incorrect, and to show off a bit. And the feedback helps in my choice of a next gig. Even the feedback of the lower class folks has it's place. Often devoid of real argument, and tending toward vulgarity and ad hominem comments on physical characteristics of others, all can teach us all. For me, the lessons are on better writing. Or even tolerably decent writing. Or stopping crappy writing. But in our search for mates, character comes across quite clearly. I'm a fat little illiterate Vierk Gnome, don't you know, among other kind/revealing epithets? Sort of has grown on me.
The cyberscritinizers here seem to get it, rarely tossing away the keys to CS jail for too long. Sure, perhaps more work could be done with the high percentage of scammers. But even here, the opportunity to learn is appreciated.
So welcome back. If that's what the blog means. And disallowing comments teaches us all a bundle as well. As does never blogging itself. Can't imagine ever doing so. Just often pay things a good deal of tactical ignoring.

Mesmer's art and craft. Few humans are incapable of entering trance.....

with the clinical situation in the right hands, voice and bodily movements in tow. Kids respond best. Some higher mammals as well. But what of those swamis with bobbing flutes, and their cobras?
And a number of practical tests have evolved over the years, to aid in identifying those who may resist entry to trance. These are based on history, notably that of mental health issues, principally anxiety disorders, and hyper vigilance, certainly paranoia. And on principles of Ideamotor body relationships, borrowed from neurology, those cheap bastards. Happy to take all sorts of stuff from other specialtists, but qvetsh like hell when asked for some of their own clinical secrets. They'll all get theirs some fine final day. Most are hybrid driving lefties. But I digress.
These "trance assessment tools" are used by all of us, unsuspectingly, seemingly in innocence, in every day. life Emotionally charged, Ideomotor maneuvers. Many therapists develop their own. My favorites are..........
.......Not so fast, you CS lemmings. Wouldn't you all just die to know which of these have been used on you? Unawares. With full effect.
Vierk gracious free hint of the day--- just watch a scummy Dem politician or sales huperson in action.
Nuff said. For now.

Office and bed side clinical testing, and screening instruments, for cognitive deficits....

...of which there are several, all tests with documented forms of validity/reliability, sensitivity/specificity, and all in use daily. Most are no longer copyrighted, so any clinician can burn off copies, for use with grandmomsie and grandpopsie dearests. In clinic, with concerned family typically in tow.
In light of the recent balloon floating CALL by the NYT for wiggle room, VERY wiggly, for sniffy, creepy Mr. Joe Biden in upcoming presidential debates, watch for the leftie biased print and broadcast media to begin to weigh in on this topic. Certainly so, given what any one can see, following the likely impaired Ex VP Biden's act.
Passes and softballs, as with Hilary, ---on Vince Forster, Bengazi, cattle futures, college thesis, and so much more, were legion. Many of hers being orange jump suit behaviors. And as with the last (full tilt affirmative action) POTUS. But who really thinks that mere softy pitching, and sequestering of Mr. Biden in his basement, will suffice? Watch assistants, having great concerns, while towing him onto stage each time, with worried hearts, VERY worried. Ditto for impressions of (especially decisive ) swing voters? So the fix is on. Hide him, and hold on the testing.
We saw the dozens of sequentially failed witch hunts to stage repeat coups on our legally, VERY legally, elected president Trump. Among such, unethical (sans examination) waxing diagnostic by alt leftie clinicians, who should know better. Recall hunt number lucky 13. Invoking the 25th amendment to cancel the election on grounds of presidential cognitive compromise. Fortunately, during his physician yearly examination, such testing was done, with our Brilliant and Dazzling President Trump turning in near perfect scores. As he rightly claims. As the Doc told us. Don't take my words for it.
But we now hear reports that in spite of what all can witness, SOMEHOW, such testing was conveniently omitted, during the EX VP's last physician physicals. If any student clinician would fail to recommend such testing after spending 5 minutes with the Ex VP, ---well, they'd be repeating the clinical neurology clerkship experience. Are we beginning to see any patterns to protect, hide and to mislead in all this?
I say YES! ---as do an increasing number of voters. But as with tropes from leftie institutions, such as teachers' and their corrupt unions, many health care workers, other organized labour, the corrupt FBI, almost all of the Demon-crat Party, and so many more, ---well, don't hold your breath.
Anyone can foresee how the Trump Derangement-Hilary Deficit Syndrome ueber lefties here will try to spin these FACTS, but just stay tuned. And, as always, can't make any of this up, folks.

I need a new cage...

My neighbor is semi-retired and does maintenance around my condo. He called me yesterday to say my dryer vent is clogged. I don't normally do laundry, but I noticed it took more than 2 cycles for the comforter to dry. I haven't checked the vent in... a long time!

So, I went around the back of the building this morning to see. Wow.. there is a cage around the vent that keeps animals from getting inside. It was packed with lint. I'm surprised any clothes or towels dried. Inside the laundry room, I removed the vent hose from the dryer where it connects to the outside wall and inserted the hose from an industrial strength shop-vac but it was only able to get lint inside the vent as the vanes are one-way letting air out and close tightly with the vacuum.

Armed with a broom, screw driver and wrench I used a ladder (yeah, I'm on the 2nd floor) to remove the cage surrounding the vent. I was able to clear the lint from the louver & vent, but it's not worth trying to get all of it out of the holes in the cage.

Good for now, Home Depot sells those cages for $9.
Not a priority and it will happen at a later date!
