after watching a movie

After watching Solaris...

The old man tells Clooney, there are no questions, only decisions.

Is it foolish to think life can be figured out?

or

Should we just live it making the best possible decisions we can?

or

Somewhere in between?

or

Should I have not have written this blog in the first place.

I'm guilty...

The CS blog community has a (relatively) recent arrival who writes some nice blogs and doesn't appear to have any personality quirks that are often found with members of online communities.
That said, I'm guilty of only reading her blogs and not being a contributor with comments.
My thoughts are many of you... like me, are holding back to contributing to her blogs.
Is it the material not relevant to me... maybe yes and maybe no.
Or is it 'blog apathy' from the group to someone they know little about?
That's what blogs are about... letting people know about you and the things you are interested in.
She did a marathon sweep of her blog comments last night and I'm curious to start reading her material with more interest.

Things I can't explain

It's a great feeling on Friday night, knowing I don't have to get up on Saturday at the same time as I do in the week; yet I always do get up at the same time. dunno

If you hear someone saying mean things behind you back

If you hear someone saying mean things behind you back don't assume you hearing it wasn't the actual intention. Often it is to get a reaction out of you. Dont give any reaction whatsoever no matter what buttons they try to press and act totally indifferent towards it. It goes away quite fast when you aren't going to allow yourself to be manipulated into their game of seeking reactions out of you.?cheers

All things made from COTTON

I remember the slogan: Cotton, the fabric of our lives. It hasn't died and this morning I see there's a website with that name connected to Cotton Incorporated.
My preference is garments made from cotton. I don't care that it distorts with repeated washings and I'll go along with cotton & rayon blends to control that.

I will admit to some perverse fascination to a Ban-Lon shirt I had in the 1960's that took on a weird smell when washed in bleach. Except for it's resistance to soak up perspiration that shirt got worn every week until the fabric started pilling and it was time to make it to the garbage. Had it been made in cotton, the shirt would have had another life as a rag when my brother and I worked on cars.

The connection about the alcohol and a machine that extracts seeds from cotton hasn't been established in my mind. but, I believe I can deal with that.

Stepping outside of one's Comfort Zone...Top 10 Survey findings (very interesting read)

Complimenting a stranger in the street is the top thing adults would most like to do in public, but don’t have the guts, according to a poll from the UK. The poll of 2,000 adults found 40 percent ‘consciously limit’ themselves in life because they fear being criticized when doing things more freely. The survey, carried out by OnePoll, revealed that going to the cinema alone, singing aloud, and walking barefoot are other unconventional activities we are too embarrassed to indulge in.

Well over half of respondents feel more alive when they push themselves out of their comfort zone, but they are often too scared to take the leap. One in three (34 percent) worry what other people would think if they were to be so adventurous—and 43 percent hold so much of themselves back that they believe others would be shocked to learn their true personality.

Pavan Chandra from Peperami, which commissioned the poll as part of a new campaign to encourage spontaneity, said, “We as a nation are traditionally known as being a bit stiff and reserved. “However, if everyone went outside of their comfort zone once in a while, they’ll start seeing the fun and exciting side of life.”

TOP 10 THINGS ADULTS WISH THEY COULD DO FREELY IN PUBLIC:
1. Compliment a stranger
2. Go to the cinema alone
3. Walk down the street singing loudly
4. Tell someone they love them
5. Listen to something without headphones
6. Fart or burp openly
7. Walk barefoot
8. Do yoga stretches in the park
9. Adjust your underwear
10. Dance in the street

The name Shawn

The name Shawn is both a boy's name and a girl's name of Irish origin meaning "God is gracious".
This name is the anglicized version of the Irish Séan, which itself comes from the Hebrew name John.
Alternate spellings include Shawne, Shaun and Sean.

As for spelling it Sean, I'm glad my mom didn't go that route with my name. That spelling always made me think of the word "seen". I feel that the spelling "Shawn" is the best way. IMO

New PC

I got a new (new to me) pc. After watching it collect dust for a week, I finally got the right cord to hook it up, but not in the music room where I want it. When I seen it online, on the picture, it looked like it had modern hdmi outputs on it but when I got it, it wasn't hdmi, I have no idea what they are called along with a old style vga. Problem is, the music room tv don't have a vga input but the tv in the living room do, but I haven't had a vga cord in years and you would be surprised how hard it was for me to come up with one. I need a adaptor to hook the computer to the tv in the music room so I'm just playing with it now in the living room getting it set up and stuff while I wait for the adaptor to come from online.

At least its on and running, even if its not in place yet roll eyes

Why We Need Trolls

Yes you read that right, we do need trolls.

But why?

Trolls act as a lightening rod for our negative emotions such as hate, resentment. They stir up the worst in us sometimes and do have the ability to ruin your day. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all have these negative emotions and though most try to control them, they are always there.

A group of people tend to get along better when there is a troll or two in the mix than a group with no stand out troll. Without a troll, your negative energy's has nowhere to vent and eventually, the group will slowly start to build up these energy's and thus otherwise good people, they start bickering and it builds until its just all out fighting with each other.

I spent lots of time online and I have always noticed that groups with trolls often get along with each other better than groups with no trolls. Strange but true.
