The Power of Beauty

Just recently, I was watching the movie, The Dark Tower. In the movie, Matthew McConaughey's character makes a comment to his shape-shifting minion, (to the effects here) "Oh, I see you chose a beautiful face....with a beautiful face, the world is your oyster."

Also, I have heard it said that a beautiful woman is the most powerful person in the world.

....and, what about that song that says if you want a happy life don't marry a beautiful wife (or something like that lol)

I am just a dummy here and just trying to become more educated.

Is it possible there is something to beauty?

Is it possible that beautiful people should be paid a little closer attention to, to determine their personalities, their moral compasses...etc....

It is said that we are in essence products of our environments. We are shaped by our feedback we receive from others. Is it possible that beautiful people curry favor....they hear less negative feedback because many want something from them? Therefore, they become less empathetic due to genuine ignorance. dunno

I don't know....but I found that line in that movie very interesting.

In addition, the references given mention the female gender. Of course, this is not a gender specific subject. Men can also be deemed as attractive and curry favor as well because of their looks.

I am sure it is just Hollywood and it means absolutely nothing....but...what if.
What about the beauty Hollywood hires, why?
What about news networks with the majority being attractive, why?
What about weather channels and their beauty, why?
Scammers using images of attractive people, why?

Common sense would say it is a play on human instincts...they are not labeled "attractive" for nothing. They garner attention, people wanting to watch/see them. In other words they generate viewer dollars. They by no fault of their own, have a following for nothing other than their looks. Some, I would suspect know they are beautiful and can play that in their favor. Hmmm....I am trying to think of something I just heard on a show in reference to a woman using her beauty for selfish ends. Again, men can too.

Beauty can have the power of persuasion. I once heard that humans have 5 essential motivators....one is sex and one is money.

I bet people have done some pretty stupid things at the request of a beautiful person.

I am not saying all beauty is dangerous...but...just like anything else...some can be.

dunno wave

Public friendly reminder

Last night while out I got to witness the caring nature of society with bathroom etiquette. In a public bathroom with about 15 stalls in it, I hear somebody say, "hey man, wash your hands." The guy being spoken to says, "why..they are clean." "Man," the initial man says, "you just touched your d*ck!" After a couple more exchanges of words, it ends up with them going outside to settle the dispute.

I am not sure what there is to learn here. doh

It is funny.

It is crazy.

It is nice to see somebody speak up.

I guess if you use the bathroom, wash your hands.

Personally, it does bother me when I see somebody leave the bathroom who does not wash their hands. I am not too fond on touching his p*nis or wiping his a**. laugh

House Arrest

Here in SA 'House arrest' refers to that portion of the day/night when the probationer does not work and is compelled to be at home. I'm just thinking about the probationer that does not have a job to go to and stays at home 24/7.

I guess thats the ideal time for such a person to join CS and be online most of the time.

But will such a probationer be honest about his situation or merely lie about it?dunno

O.I. Wars II: Attack of the Revenge of the Sith

Hey hey everybody! I'm having one of those moments again where I'm thinking about how I'm wanting more independence, and meet new people outside, and basically the same stuff I mentioned in my first blog. I decided to spend a few moments to follow up on that blog by saying a couple of things.

First of all, I wanna thank each and every single one of you guys for the kind words of support that you all left in my previous blog. You don't know how much that means to me. It really helped to lift my spirits during a time when I was feeling really down in the dumps. I'm not sure what else to really add to that. Just wanted to thank all of you for all the kindness. :)

Secondly, I'm trying to Google ways I could achieve the goals I wanna achieve. That's always been kinda difficult for me, since I'm never sure what exactly to search to find what I'm looking for. :P I'm trying to look for ways I can do day to day things by myself, while still making sure I'm doing it safely. Don't wanna end up with like, a tipped over wheel chair somewhere, and then being like, "Welp.....Guess I'm just here now." :P I know there are ways for people with O.I to perform regular day to day activities like everybody else. I've seen it done from a couple of sources. I just don't know HOW they do those things, which is what I need to figure out, for this to even work.

I guess just to add this in, I haven't really told my parents about this thought process I'm going through because....well a couple of reasons. A: I don't know how they'd react. And B: For whatever reason, I always feel awkward bringing these type of "real life problem" topics up to them. I dunno WHY I feel like that. I'm more than capable of talking about OTHER problems with them, but they're more goofy, "Point and laugh at" kinds of problems, like "What? The Playstation 4 doesn't have backwards compatibility? PFFFT! That's just silly!" No joke, my mom and I ACTUALLY had a pretty in depth conversation about that. XD And yet, when it comes to this particular situation, which is a legitimately serious topic, I don't feel comfortable discussing it. Like I said, I just feel awkward about it, and the last thing I wanna do is make things awkward. That's not a fun feeling at all. I'm the type of guy who really only brings up those types of topics, if it feels natural to bring it up in the current conversation I'm having. I'm sure you can see the obvious problem with that. When would a conversation like that ever come up? How would I bring it up? I don't know.

But this sorta goes back to the Google searching I mentioned earlier. I sorta don't wanna bring it up to them AT ALL until I know for a fact that what I'm aiming to achieve is actually possible. More importantly, HOW to achieve it. If I can get that step out of the way, then MAYBE I can finally work up the courage to bring all this up to them. Until then though, it's back to the searches I go. This was definitely a much more rambly blog than my previous one, so thanks for sticking with me if you got this far. :P I guess I'll wrap this up by saying, see you next time, and thanks again for all the support. See ya around! :)

God Himself Could Not Sink This Ship

Words uttered by Caledon Hockley played By Billy Zane in the classic 1997 version of Titanic. The one James Cameron directed. By the way, James Cameron was very interested in studying Titanic and went down there himself to see where he went wrong in his film. I really respect that. But I digress. That’s a whole other blog. This blog is about my passion to relive the ill-fated ocean liner of years, no decades past. And to fulfill my dream to travel aboard the currently being built tribute, never a replacement, Titanic II.

Nobody claimed to have thought that Titanic was in fact unsinkable...at first. That was embellished by Hollywood. Titanic was indeed sinkable much to everyone’s dismay. In ways unimaginable to both the ship’s captain, engineer, and all the passengers in her wake. So what makes Titanic II virtually unsinkable? I say virtually because Titanic IIs voyages are currently being unrealized because she is currently being built. Which features defy nature? Nature by its very essence is undefiable. You cannot predict happenstance nor can you defy nature as proved by the original ocean liners sinking. It’s only considered unsinkable by our finite imaginations. Posing no contender to nature. Which is very much false. One can argue that nature has no contenders and must be respected.

First off we must thank the Australian billionaire Clive Palmer for putting the funds toward this project one that exceeds the funds of it’s predecessor due to inflation of course, duh. But I digress again. I want to give him credit for making my dream and passion of mine to sail aboard the Titanic, of what we knew her to be aboard the Titanic II. The current cost of the funding project is around 500 million and she is to set sail in 2022. Her first feature that I will mention is that she is true to the original model, just a bit broader to accommodate the physics of staying afloat in a crisis. She has third, second, and first class boarding accommodations, exactly like the original. I probably will stay in third class as the second and first class is way out of my price range rendering me subject to roommates, ugh, but ultimately, I do not care about where I stay in the ship. I can sleep in the cargo hold for all I care. Most of my days will be spent on the leisure decks and up on the main deck enjoying the cool Atlantic breeze and sunshine on my face. Enjoying the heck out of life.

Oops! There I go again...okay where was I...ahem. Oh yes. Another difference is that there will be plenty of lifeboats this time. Enough to accommodate every soul on board. Do I trust humans though?! Oh heck no! I will be bringing my own life jacket aboard. You never know what could or will happen. When a crisis happens and people panic they act irrationally. Someone could grab five life jackets and throw them overboard in an attempt to make a raft, and just like that you are without a life jacket. Anything is possible in a crisis. You have to think like that and always be prepared.

The hull in the original model was weak compared to the impact of an iceberg. To ensure it’s sturdiness the hull of the current model will be wielded shut and not riveted. The water pressure forced the rivets off encouraging faster flooding and rendered the water tight compartment worthless. And it was rumored that during her trial tests that there was an explosion in one of the steam rooms weakening the hull. The maiden voyage went on despite all this. I think that may have been true because there are too many things that have to had gone wrong to explain how weak the hull became. There have also been rumors that the ship was bombed and that’s how it split in half. Some of the passengers said that they heard a loud explosion but that also could have been due to the water pressure exploding the ships compartments and also steam pressure. It’s all so interesting but there’s no way I can prove a lot of the information that I read. (To be continued in comments section...)

will tourism end ,,,

i was talking with a friend that was on holiday here for two weeks ,,and now that most countries require a pcr certificate to enter ,, he explained that it would now cost him an extra 500 pounds to go back as he and his family needed to be tested before being allowed to cross the borders as they are driving ,,,
and the pcr test rules are that it has to have been done within 72 hours of travelling ..
so if you decide to go on a holiday that lasts for more than 4 days then you will need a test to go and then a test to return and for a family of 5 that works out at an extra 1000 pounds on top of your holidays costs ,,,
so i can not see many families taking holidays outside of their own countries in the very near future ,,,

Sometime it must be spring.

Dad used to look out the window and say that the last winter he lived. He made it and died in that April. Now I see another spring too. And I always say if I don't hit the ground running in March I am sunk. Like usual, it is half past April already. I busted back and got most of the flower beds raked. I hate oak trees!very mad
Haven't gotten barnyard on them yet, nor mulch from my wood chip pile. I set the hens to raking the one terrace and then the next when first was raked. They do good work and do it for birdseed. Problem is attention span. They work a short bit and then off to somewhere else. So it takes them days to do an area. But, easy for them to get under stuff and then all I need do is gather the piles they make.
I drove down the road. See the woods has that pink blush. It is caused by the shells of buds. The next is the green blush and then it seems over night it is BAM! Green woods. I noticed the lilacs have leaves a quarter inch already. Daffodils are in bloom. Grass in the meadow is greening. Nature is in its usual rush to start and get on with it before winter.
I brought seed containers up. Should start some soon. Lettuce sounds right. So much work ahead. Set buckets ready to plant. Buy plants. But, this is the time of hold...raining and 50 today and half the week ahead. I remember digging out and not making it home til the next day in the blizzard that hit mid April in 73. Suckers!rolling on the floor laughing doh
I have kittens everywhere the moms have hid them. Hens are laying almost a dozen eggs a day. ENOUGH already! Here, have a dozen eggs. YOU need them!!!frustrated
Time to clean the wood shed and start to fill it again. Fields need to get tilled. Weeds killed. The farm dictates life. And nature.

Sleepless in London

It is now 4.45,am,and I am wide awake, and up since 3.30.
I don't believe I was ever a good sleeper,but,it is getting worse.
I'm sure shift work, over a number of years,at different times of my life, play a part.
Still, being reasonably healthy, retired, and not a prisoner of the clock, makes it bearable.
Living alone,I wonder if a partner would relax me more, and help me sleep?
This is the longest time I have been on my own,for many years.
In some ways,it's nice.
Doing my own thing, without offending,or finding things being changed, and not knowing where they are.
Still, man or woman, were not meant to be single.
Even Roman Catholic Priests were allowed to marry,at one time, until a stupid, jealous Pope, forbade it!
How much safer and better world today, especially for children,if that buffoon, had sense!
Right,my first attempt at a Blog!
Not too bad,I hope.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend, and, try not to be sleepless.
Nite/nite,or,morning/morning.
Mike.
