One of their many usually Trump hating, VERY hating, presentations on the C-19 CHINA virus. And just what do I behold? Au contraire, friends, all.
First, a little tedious scientific background. Recall, that Sweden, God bless all those curvaceous/delicious little blondie tartie backsides, is really the only country largely to have avoided various lock-down procedures, notably also in their schools. And they paid for it, with death rates, mostly at care homes, over 5 times as great as in other Blondie Tartie heavens. And sadly, no evidence, yet, of reliable herd immunity. We know little of the human population response to this novel agent.
But, this news report interviewed several Svenske Biostatisticians and lowly Epidemiologists, who said that the school children were none the worse for the courageous, COUNTRY WIDE, clinical epidemiological, natural, enormous, experimental trial.
Sooooooo,as all you highly edumacated CS number crunching medical experts will know, such evidence is the dream of every clued researcher. We like to call these naturalistic-population wide-trials. Alas, try getting one approved by any medical trials ethics committee. How we resent those snooty, arrogant folks, many who have never used a stethescope, or examined a chest film. But perhaps I'll stop this little sub-rant right here.
Now then, I wish this was BBC TV, and not radio. Why? To see the dejected faces and slumped postures, on the ueber liberal studio, staff when they learned that the science behind the call of our Brilliant and Dazzling President Trump was, scientifically, not too shabby.
Like the faces/slinked over stances, of the TV pols and pundits after midnight, last election. When Hilary had to call our awesome hero to concede. Much to their credit, the BBC kept the spin under wraps. No easy task for those with TD-HD Syndromes.
Now, recall the well documented near TOTAL incompetence of the staff and administrations at US government schools, compared with the star quality staffs in northern Europe. So, as we say in these fields, using such data to generalize results, technically speaking, comes with risks.
But one more promise to be kept. And you know what else always gets written here next, folks.

I've used that phrase often and tonight hpylady_ suggested it on Jim's blog about virus being carried on tiny particles found in air pollution.

The concept of a canary in a coal mine is because miners had died as the levels of colorless odorless carbon monoxide, methane or other gases that proved to be fatal to the miners. They had no means of detecting these hazardous/toxic gasses and found that canaries would quickly sicken when subjected to that kind of environment allowing the miners to escape unharmed.

Using canaries became an 'early-warning' system for the workers deep inside the mines.
It wasn't until years later they carried compressed air breathing systems and carbon monoxide detectors to protect miners.

The birds were no longer needed but the saying is still around...

The idiom/metaphor 'Canary in a coal mine' also relates to other things, such as financial indicators. For example: Mortgage borrowers in this coronavirus pandemic could be the canary in the mine to a foreclosure crisis.

Almost daily, I read some comparison to the statistics of the number of influenza deaths compared to coronavirus. That makes me want to question their logic. Oh... there is no logic, so it must be a politically motivated comment.

On 27 August 1918, there were a number of cases in Bombay, India, of a particular virus. On the same day in Boston, USA, there were similar cases reported. The virus was Spanish flu and the effect of that pandemic was to kill over 25 million people.
How did this virus begin at opposite sides of the earth at the same time. The only form of travel was by boat and the journey by anyone would have taken a long time. The virus developed within 24 hours.
Astro biologists state that meteors and comets contain microorganisms, and that these microbes are able to survive in virtually any temperatures especially cold or even freezing. It is thought that meteor showers delivered this virus. But why select two opposite sides of this planet? And at the same time.? Was this by accident, or deliberate interference by extra terrestrial beings. Was the introduction of this virus to test the human races resistance to such disease and prepare them for the future, or to reduce the population?
75 000 years ago, beings on this planet underwent a sudden mysterious change in mental capacity. They began to write, draw and record their experiences. Some people believe that the continuous bombardment of this planet by meteors etc may have been a method of introducing viruses to affect the DNA structure and consequently gradually change the development of humans.

Probably fair to say, consistent with all other marked differences here and elsewhere between the sexes, that women get much more mail/notice/likes/ favorites/etc. from men than the other way around. So one might think that we men would immediately follow along whenever a lady shows even a bit of such interest thusly. Some may, perhaps most do. I actually try to respond to all such contact, at least initially. But with CS hardly being a lovefest of sobriety, groundedness, and other signals of sound mental health, regrettably, one must, with all due diligence, do a little vetting and screening out. Many ways to do so, of course. But I prefer psychological subtlety. Sure, it cuts down the numbers of possibilities early on, but even with high specificity, I'll take higher sensitivity, keeping the numbers of false positives higher, at the regrettable cost of false negatives. Epidemiology and public health. But which fellow won't follow clever banter no matter how dangerous the trip? Now noone will ever look my way. Ouch?
