In very primitive life forms, there are methods of exchange of genetic materials, between sexes, but it hardly resembles s*xual reproduction. But all higher forms, including even many plants, with exceptions, from a genetic viewpoint, resemble the egg and sperm deal seem in humans. So the advantages of this scheme go very far back and are everywhere. Except in many liberals, and other primitive human like organisms.

Natural history of virus---convalescent states, harboring in CNS? All not likely .Droplet, fomites or other methods of spread, just for starters. But just as important, as in the SARS outbreak, which humanity just barely squeaked by, 15 years ago, also a King Kong among corona types---what I now name "POLITICAL EPIDEMIOLOGY". In SARS, weeks passed before barely effective Chinese public health efforts began. Doctors were silenced, and during hospital international inspections, patients allegedly were taken out and window shades drawn down ambulanced about, till the clip board bean counter nurses left. And as we Yanks did to the over run Europe during the last two wars, we were the true Calvary, We, this DEMOCRATIC, HIGH PERSONAL FREEDOM state, with others. So, one party state leaders were running things, as always, in the PRC. In total medical ignorance, reluctance to seek or even trust the epidemiologists, fear of loss of tourist money, and perhaps public panic. But again, true to form, this last had little to do with concern for public health or effective control measures, and a ALL to do with these leaders' deadly fear of popular backlashes against them. But don't just take my words for it. Tiannamen tanks, PLA troupes and machine guns. And bodies galore. All covered up, and can't ever appear in school text books. Yep, bad/corrupt/fearful government can be as powerful an epidemiological factor as can the characteristics of the infectious agent. But don't take my words for it---just stay tuned. In this month's Scientific American, these issues get discussed. Sadly, the whole article focuses on classical null hypothesis rejection using p values, or "confidence" intervals. Alternatives are discussed, such as Baysian approaches, or a new gimmick, how things don't seem right by analogy with repeated coin tossing. I wish the writer had had more knowledge of research methodology, including various study approaches, and analytical biases. Current approaches merely attempt to rule out errors based on chance. The real meat of the process comes with discussion of results. This would include: Degrees of strength of findings, dose response trends, analyses of biases and efffect modification, appropriateness of study designs, biological/physical/chemical coherence, funding/publication biases,----and how results fit with existing evidence in building stronger theory of any scientifically answerable questions. But it does touch on how hard it is for humans to think outside of existing theoretical boxes. Yet ignores how all this relates to crafting real policy in the real world.

It is difficult for an open-minded person, especially if he/she has a scientific background to deny that the various issues of the socially-accepted concepts of sense-experience reality are open to question. Yet, despite the above-stated factors, very few people are willing to give serious consideration to seeking other perspectives of reality. Perhaps the main reason for this is the very powerful factor of social conditioning or socialization coupled with the need to avoid a feeling of aloneness in one's existence.

Social conditioning is necessary for the existence of a society, otherwise there will be chaos and confusion. Nevertheless, it tends to rob an individual of some measure of his/her individuality, giving in return a certain degree of social security which has a vital role in helping an individual to overcome a feeling of aloneness in his/her existence. This social security may be defined as a sense of belonging and recognition within the society. The actual amounts taken and given by the social conditioning process vary with different individuals.

Social conditioning has such a powerful effect on one's concept of reality that very few individuals are seriously willing to seek new perspectives of reality even though many realize that the perspectives of the socially-accepted concepts of sense-experience reality are very open to question. If they attempt to do otherwise, they run the risk of being denied the social security mentioned and of experiencing alienation and estrangement from society, and of facing a frightening and almost unbearable feeling of aloneness in their existence, and most are unwilling to take that risk.

The few who realize the shortcomings of the socially-accepted concepts of reality and who dare to seek new perspectives of reality are faced head-on with the question: Is it possible that one can experience some form of reality in life which transcends human sense experience and the process of logical reasoning, since these factors necessarily give a distorted view? What do you think?

Apparently it's showing up on many sides of the issue.
