Well this has certainly turned out to be a popular thread! I guess it's an issue we've all given a lot of thought to at various stages in our lives. And of course the philosophers have kept themselves busy with this topic. I think there are two questions: 1) What does happiness mean to you and 2) What sort of things make you happy? Or are they the same question? I think happiness is more of a state of mind or an attitude. Letting go of fear is the thing; the fear of lack, the fear of death, of pain, etc. If you can hang onto that state of mind you can be happy in almost any situation.

Well, happiness is an emotion and like all emotions, closely linked to what we think. So yes, letting go of fear goes hand in hand with letting go of negative, irrational thoughts...With myself, short of a family tragedy, heaven forbid and may everyone be kept safe, then I'm generally happy. If something starts to bother me I set about to do something about whatever it is. If it is out of my control, then I let it go and focus on what I might be able to do to help make the situation better. Anything else is a waste of energy.
What makes me happy? Just being grateful for all that I have in my life, and all the great things/people that continue to come my way. Just being, really.
venere08: I had no idea hang gliders fly so high!! He was being tossed about by the wind, twirling around through thick cloud, then at the end, simply walking onto terra firma. Amazing stuff!...Thank you for posting! You glide so high up, too???
Yeah we get up to 25000 ft with oxygen of course. This is where you find floating spiders, butterflies and any other unfortunate bug caught in thermals oh and it can get 67 below zero

Speaking of thermals, you would need a few layers of such!!
Holy, moly, AA, isn't that the height a small plane flies when flying unpressurised?...Do you carry radar equipment???
Hope you're not looking for a woman to share your passion!

Normal small aircraft fly around 3000 ft I might be wrong but they may get to 25000 ft if they have enough fuel or have one good turbo. To reach 25000 ft in a Hang glider is seldom in Australia, what Im saying its not a daily or a yearly event but it does happen and you have to be far north when it does.

daggyone: To me it means having someone who loves me as much as I do them.
I have it now, I live with my kid in our own home , Life was meant too be this good! A house full of harmony and peace, where the people living there love each other and respect each other! I have such a nice life now having someone else come into it could rune it?
I think I will be single for a long time as I will never risk what I have got now for what I don’t want to change,
Maybe I should leave here as I don’t think anyone on here could improve what I have now?
Happiness is seeing my Grandchildren happy and healthy and know they have parents who care. A bit of loven and a companion that is truthful and honest and wants me as I am. To Laugh and have good time.
