I will be away for a couple of days have to go to hospital for an Op
dont ask... you dont want to know.

What I dont like is when for some reason or another its necessary but know that I will wake up in a lot more pain than before I had the op.
I hope I can zone into mind over matter again.

Sorry Guys but not looking forward to it thats all. doh

I was told how much morphine is good and free in hospitals.

Until I had to endure the pain associated with it. One shot in my leg and I would rather put up with the pain in the neck (literal rather than metaphorical at the time).

don’t be such girls, I was in last October, the drugs now go in through the drip,
And it can be self ministered now! They gave me a little button to push that only worked every five minutes and an alarm would go off when empty, gee did I push that little button to death!

The thing that pissed me off is that they wouldn’t let me go out for a smoke? After the operation?

I had too wait two hour and still no smoke!

So I checked myself out!

Even people in prison are allowed out for a smoke!

Ever think there was a medical reason for that? Aren't addictions grand???...And well done to you for defying them and checking yourself out. Bet your kids were proud of you.

Don't bother to travel by air. They don't take kindly to defiant passengers who want to check out.

There are many many addictions. Some are sociably acceptable such as the use of cocaine many years ago. Smoking has been around the modern world for the last 400 years and was very acceptable on all levels of society. All of a sudden, "smoking is the worst evil and therefore everyone should stop NOW."

Alcohol is open to the masses and it is okay to partake. Just don't hurt anyone else. Gambling is legal and we should be sensible and know when to stop because we need to buy some food for the children. Crap on a big time as gamblers only stop when they have no more to play with.

Smoking is the worst addiction ever. My GP is an addiction specialist and was surprised that I actually stated this. And also his belief from all of his studies.

Many people complain about the side affects of smoking but does anyone ever consider the side affects of fragrances? I have severe allergies to fragrances, like many people and avoid them like the plague.

Perfumes affect my lungs and sinuses. Fragrances affect my skin. But so many people walk around spraying themselves with odious perfumes. You may 'see' someone smoking a cigarette but consider the odious fragrances put out by so many people wearing perfumes that are not visible to the naked eye.

All in all, you should pity people who have an addiction of one kind or another, not castigate them.

I don't want to get into a debate about smoking, and hijack this thread. I couldn't help making a brief comment at the time, to blizzard.

Castigate means to 'criticise severely'; 'inflict severe punishment'...
another example of 'how on earth did you deduce that?'confused Can anyone ever make a comment on this site without being seen as kicking someone in the balls?doh

some of you may know that my 27y.o. son has Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is a blood cancer, caused by nothing in particular... he has been enduring endless chemotherapy for over a year now, he now goes into hospital for chemo at 3 days at a time. The nurses discourage him going for a walk to have a cigarette, he does it anyway, though he is not a heavy smoker.

I smoke a pack a day, considered as heavy these days. but with all the other pollutants in every day life, hey something will kill me in the end!. Guess what folks, we all die, no matter what we do, or how we chose to live our lives.

MMmm... I don't think people in prison are allowed 'out' for a smoke, lol, but yes i know how frustrating that is (for us smokers)
