For goodness sake just bring in gun controls and get the assault weapons off the streets.

The US does not have several million 'red commies' all armed and just waiting to take over the country once the people are disarmed. When they told you that in school back in the fifties to the eighties it was just propaganda.

We never did worry about the commie thing you mention. I think the biggest thing we have to fear around here are the cold war and our career politicians. I don't understand how they keep getting voted back into public office with the mess made? uh oh

By "bring in" do you mean enforce? If yes, even though I hate government rules regulations and controls period, I agree. Banning non-auto assault weapons ignores the source of what's wrong and won't stop crazy wacko's from going off the deep end and using other things to kill with.

Wacko's go for the gun-free zones. Any money spent to help prevent school murders again would be better spent on mental health programs and making schools non gun-free zones. Most of the local banks here are not gun-free zones and we don't see a lot of bonnie and clyde stupidity in them much these days. idea

Years ago, there was a bank that gave new customers shotguns when they opened up a new account...rolling on the floor laughing I liked that
Some should try that again!(including free tickets to the Full Auto Competition held each year outside of Las Vegasgrin

what phreaking Assault-Weapons!
Assault-Weapon today is an entirely political term, interchangeably used for any Firearm the Politicians target to be outlawed!
Has no bearing whatsoever to reality!
It's a simple term of political expediency, yet people not familiar with Firearms fall for the Lie everytime!laugh

montemonte: If anyone thinks the shooting of firefighters was just one nut case, you are mistaken.

People that Spengler came in contact with on a daily basis had no idea what he was capable of.

There are more Spenglers out there. They are going to come out of the woodwork and more will die.

Being a felon he wasn't allowed to have a gun, yet he had three on him at the time of this tradegy.

Years ago the capsules in bottles of Tylenol were intentionally poisoned. Customers bought the Tylenol and many died. It wasn't the fault of the company who makes Tylenol nor is it the fault of the NRA who promote collecting guns. I'm not a gun fanatic but you need to look at the real problem.

The problem is not guns. The problem is it's too easy for the wrong people to get them.

monte like always the media will make this guy out to be a victim or hero.

Cause that's what sells the news.I don't know the media sleeps at night knowing that they're making a living off of others sorrow.

rizlared: Where will all this stupidity end? Arm the school teachers/prefects/monitors, lets give a Glock to every 5 year old!!! How about a Berreta with every happy meal at McD's???

America is a wonderful country, I never felt frightened or even worried while I lived there, but this passion for owning powerful weapons is getting completely out of control.
Americans need to grow up, realise that the world has moved on since the constitution was written, you have the most powerful military in the world, you are one of the most powerful countries in the world, yet time after time, you act like spoilt children, who need a smack on the bum and sent to bed with no supper.
Those that disagree with my opinion are welcome to comment, but please, don't shoot me!!!!

The school were obamas girls go has 11 "ARMED" guards!! So why can't "our" kids have armed guards as well??

That's a good question Foxy. The President's children need to be protected for obvious reasons. Doesn't mean that our children don't need protection BUT it's not likely that our children will be taken hostage.

Here's another question:

Do you think that EVERY teacher is qualified to carry an armed weapon? (Note: There are police officers who aren't qualified to carry a weapon.)

Remember, there are teachers who molest children;

There are teachers who don't teach but instead text their friends;

There are teachers who don't know that Washington, D.C. and Washington State are two different places.

So, if we screen the sane teachers from the weirdos and eliminate the ones who can't carry a conversation much less a gun, how many teachers do you think would be left in a school to protect all the other teachers, students, maintenance people and office support staff??????dunno

its to late for america and guns,,they are there its would not be possible to get them back,
armed guards in schools confused i am not a gun person but if i saw that happen i would see it as a sign that the structure of the whole country is falling apart i would feel compelled to buy my own gun
more gun crime means more guns which means more gun crime etc etc
but americans do not think that way,
how long before america has a wild west type shoot out with armed people taking on armed crims,, confusion fear bad aim ,,good idea ???

if the children are not the heart of america,
what will the reaction be when some nut case targets crowds at one of there great sporting events,
arm the athletes is what i think they would suggest,,
not the guns fault, even if guns were created for the purpose of killing men, not hunting,,
