The Canadian oil sands is not helping matters much.

I hope (along with a lot of others) that improved technology and less dependence on fossil fuels will help. What bothers me are interests who do not care about preserving the beauty of the planet for future generations

We already have the tech to be able to clean things up a lot, the problem is that governments and the companies don't want to spend the extra buck to initiate it. We all know the oil companies will kill everything just to save a few dollars and seems like our governments are not much better. They talk about the green programs they are bringing in now to reduce our carbon foot print but the truth is that they could do a lot more than is being done now. I wouldn't mind higher taxes if it meant that my (maybe one day) children will have a planet they could live on without having to wear respirators.

I doubt this could ever happen in any European or North American country due to extremely strict laws regulating the use and storage of such dangerous materials.Perhaps, he can not.

Do you know what Sodium Cyanide is and what it's used for? Maybe you think it's used to grow crops or to produce electricity? It's not. It's used for gold mining.
It's a very powerful poison and if it gets wet, it explodes.

Track I'm sure that every person could dig up unfair treatment or horrible things that countries have committed against people/nature/wildlife etc. People have done these things and for the OP to single out a single country isn't correct. In the end I think it all starts with us as individuals and how we conduct ourselves. To strive to be our best will hopefully naturally translate into treating others better and caring for our world. Each person can make an impact - they simply need to try.
