MikeD12: You have just about hit it on the head Misogyny Narcissism & NPD are linked.
You have to confront and humiliate them verbally as they rely on their sycophants.
I know women who wince the 1970's & 80's have studied Self-defence, Judo, Karate and other martial arts specifically to ward off harassment from smart arses. No Narcissit OR NPD Bully is ready for that to their level & up to a near death experience.
Totally disagree with confront and humiliate verbally, better to ignore the narcissist if it's possible to do that and whenever it's not possible it's wiser to administer a beating. Having a word or calling it out means nothing.

Surely, children of baby boomers aren't the first to experience the effects of narcissistic parents. Narcissism has been around a lot longer than the baby boomer generation has! It's a mental illness not a generational characteristic. handshake

The rise in Narcissism this past few decades points to is been a modern day epidemic. Some say it is due to societal shift from a commitment to the collective to a focus on the individual or the self.
This trend seems to follow in a number of mental health disorders.....

You are wrong I found that
if its male (usually is) and in the work environment where team work is necessary, they will show it and via deliberate antagonism for a day or two making them uncomfortable it will show out & the sycophants come out of the woodwork too. - As soon as the Big cheese makes his move which they inevitably will it is the Time to get rid officially and if necessary use violence. i found that if they have a posh car, place 8 sharpened Felt nails 2 each side of all four tyres in the car park so they get something to blab about and if its a woman that trick if done twice brings them to tears and they get the message & just leave . .

I think many people have lost who they are, through the pressure to conform. It is not even a matter of pretending anymore, for they have lost themselves. Maybe it is more prevalent in men because most woman have someone they need to look after.

Not an expert on the topic but I would say someone who persistently creates forum posts & slams a person if they don't agree with their point of view , would be very close to being a narcissist!!!

Thanks for recommending. It was great to learn of Dr Ranani Durvasula view on this subject. I watched the 3 videos and this is my synopsis ...

A Narcissist is grandiose, superficial, hyper sensitive, never listen to anyone, is entitled, is constantly seeking validation, everything is big and better for example house etc.... It’s a trait that affects up to 15% of the population 80/20 split in favor of men but the gap is lessening. Narcissistic traits are more valued in male upbringing and can go unchecked compared to females. In essence, is a disorder of the self-esteem. When a Narcissist does a bad thing they feel guilt and shame because they are concerned how others see them. They feel empty inside. Narcissist are made and is a byproduct of parenting by over indulging and under indulging at the same time. Best fun holidays, best clothes, best appearance, best at sport and academia versus little me time, not been present, little interaction or attention to their emotional needs. Important for parents suffering from mental health issues to be conscious of how their depression can affect children. But some children tend to be more predisposed to Narcissism than others. Narcissists never change. They will insure that you are never enough for them and breakups are the stuff of nightmares...

In addition, there are 4 different types of Narcissist...
1. The grandiose Narcissist .... who is all the things already mentioned
2. Malignant Narcissist.... includes lying, cheating, stealing ...very mean
3. Covert Narcissist.... quiet passive aggressive... it’s is everyone else that does them wrong. Can appear to others as depressed. Hypersensitive to criticism. Back hand complement.... Ah, glad you got that promotion, it is much easier to get promoted in your workplace.. so much more difficult to do that in my unique line of work.....
4. Communal Narcissist..... Out to save the world. Look at all the good things I do. I want to be recognized for it. I want my name in lights! Look at my greatness, I am always giving back... but I am far above those “things” I am rescuing...

In conclusion, every psychopath is Narcissistic but not every Narcissist is Psychopath. Psychopaths and Sociopaths are all those things except they feel no guilt or remorse. A psychopath is born and a sociopath is made. Named Anti Social behavior disorder. They are Intelligent, charming but have zero empathy. Psychopaths are diagnosed before 15 yrs old. Hurt animals, set fires, violent, bullish etc.... they lie, cheat, steal and are unable to hold down a job. sociopaths learn these things in their environment. They have empathy that becomes desensitized. The majority of perpetrators of domestic violence are either Narcissists, Psychopaths, Sociopaths or a combination of those. The make wonderful salesmen due to their mirroring abilities.

Narcissistic traits is the how to guide to achieve in today’s business and wealth accumulation which equates to materialism. Not so in the world of interpersonal communications and people skills!

MsContessa: We meet Narcissists on a daily basis but we seldom recognize them as such!
Have you ever experienced one in your life? What are the red flags?
Yes, I have experienced one from CS.

Red flags... Once their lips are moving be prepared.
