Thanks for suggestion, will update my looking-for "shopping list":

a rich and famous Apollo, who's aging well; has to be able, and even eager, to fix hick-ups in the sewer and kill rats by leading them to the nearest beach for self-drowing, all 30 km as crow flies...

I've used moth balls in concentrated areas like holes they've made and all around outside of the perimeter of the house I spray Febreze fresh linen scent and they don't like it.
Too fresh for their noses I guess, lol.
Anything potent smelling they won't like.
It won't kill them, but they might just move away.
Live catch is another option.

Limun: plural for mouse is mice ?
Yep! When it's about animals.

When you mean a computer mouse, then mouses is right. Though, I don't know why one would need many mouses to a computer...

An ambidexter?

Tulefell: I have a little platform / deck at my back door and now a rat made its home under it. I wouldn't mind if it lived somewhere in forrest, but I do not want it as a close neighbour. A method that kills it quick and painlessly would be the best solution.

Before someone recommends poison: we have hedgehogs here and neighbours let their cats out. I don't want to cause any collateral damage.
Put one of those traps down that doesn´t harm it, then throw it in the river or smash with a hammer

Live catch is out of options. I catch it alive and then what? I don't want an animal to suffer, but I'm not so fond of this particular rat as not to get it killed quickly. Desturbing smell is another matter; I have no linen spray, though. Would perfume do?

If you decide to use a spring loaded snap trap, be sure to firmly attach the bait to the trigger so the trap will fire when the rat tries to gently remove the bait without setting it off.
This is why Humans became the dominant life form on this planet. We're smarter than a rat.

Thanks for advise, I've checked and there's a trap that is activated before the rodent would rich the bait. Yes, man is smarter than rat. Or than dog, for that matter :)

I am wondering though, why peope keep comparing themselves with rats? Are humans and rats assumed to be equals?
