Engine oil is too heavy. Campers and hunters here usually just pee or take a dump in their cooking pans instead.

I use a non stick pan..If I was one to use oil and I had none I would use a little butter.

It should be 5W-20W, or you can use sewing machine oil. Sewing machine oil has a tendency to smoke; so don't turn the burner up too high. Good Luck............burger

Extra virgin sewing machine oil is the worst, I only ever use it on salads.
