Frisky...I would like to commend you...on the way you host your threads and reply to every poster You seem very calm and well balanced in your replies

I must admit...I can appreciate other animal lovers and would not get on well...with those...who don't have animals or dislike animals...

I have always had animals in my life and I think...that animals are much better to be around...than most humans...My pets make me smile every day...they enrich my life and each one of them has a different personality

I typo...wink

Thanks Lee, I can't always respond to everyone but I do try to.

My cats each have their own personalities too. They comfort me and make me laugh. My daughter has a pit bull who is the most loving, loveable and intelligent dog. He wouldn't hurt a fly. She had one who passed away 2 years ago and she was exactly the same as this pitbull. Pits get a bad reputation.

Guide dogs for the blind, certainly. I'm pretty sure here they're allowed everywhere pretty much. Animals that provide comfort or emotional support should be in the cargo hold with everyone else's dog or other animals.

Guide dogs are highly trained, at great expense, to behave appropriately. Many don't make it through the training for whatever reason, and become assistance dogs instead.

I don't expect when I buy a plane ticket, to be subjected to someones farting mutt just because it finds the tv remote or barks when somebody is at the door. If the passenger can't handle a flight without their pet by their side, maybe theyr shouldn't fly.

Majority of flights here are about an hour, animals are well cared for in the cargo hold. We banned smoking on all flights, because the comfort of the majority was considered more important than the desires of a few. So far as I'm concerned all pets can travel in the cargo hold.

Animals don't belong in a plane, especially not mixed with passengers.
I can imagine animals from zoos or wild animal that were captive and will be set free are in a plane, even horses if they're used for sports, like the olympic games.
But if you go on a holiday or something like that, leave your dog/cat in his own neigbourhood and find someone to take care of your animal, it's less stressfull, he doesn't have to mark a new territory. Even if you're moving to a different place, find a new home for your animal in his own area and say goodbye.

In this case you can’t help one weak without harming another weak because the truth is everybody is more anxious and/or allergic than they were 100 years ago. You make an exception in exceptional cases like a blind man’s dog.

secretagent09: I don't like many things in North Carolina. One of them being that dogs are allowed to go into stores. Grocery stores, pharmacies, Home Depot. The handler uses the excuse that the dog is a therapy dog. If the dog doesn't have a therapy vest on saying the name of the organization that sponsors the dog then it's not a therapy dog. People don't want to leave their dogs at home and that's why they take them into stores the worst being the grocery store where their fur can fly onto the fresh vegetables and fruit.
Thee are some wondeful guide dogs in our city, they are allowed instores , on busses everywhere.

Yes, guide dogs are allowed in stores probably around the world. If you read my post carefully you would realize it was about dogs who ARE NOT therapy dogs of any kind being allowed in stores, etc. That is what I am against.
