Leaned from dad, never drink to oblivion . Used to drink some. Now rarely. I do not like the feeling..too much like being sick with a cold. And don't see the sense to it anymore. I would rather treat myself to a soda.
What I see with the proliferation of sweet schnapps, liqueurs, beers, canned cocktails and such...is that the younger gen don't like the taste of booze.
I was brought up to sip booze like brandy or whiskey. Maybe over ice or mixed. Now I see everyone chugs a shot. They throw it back like some challenge. All it tells me is they hate it and just want to get drunk as fast as they can. Apparently they like feeling dizzy and clumsy.
Adults enjoy booze for the taste. Children chug it.

I don't like the taste of any liquors... The only liquor I "consume" is one or two tablespoon of rum, when it's poured into the mix of a delicious dessert we make here, called "Quesillo" which is like a flan... And when it's already cooked, you barely notice the rum flavor... Really yummy...

One or two drinks make you mellow. Three might be OK. If you are drinking to sleep well, I suggest melatonin.

It is a form of socializing . like having a cup of coffee with friends- having a drink with buddies over a conversation Then we have a glass of wine over dinner , a schnapps with your morning coffee and a beer over lunch
Celebrations - yeah thats mostly about drinking
