Sub- cultures everywhere, people disregarding laws, in spite of my desire to stay/ be optimistic, I see scenario similar to the movie “ Soylent Green”. Perhaps not, let’s hope not. Hint: there are too many people for the planet to support. We are wasteful. The ocean is chocked full of debris. Acres and acres of rusting cars, stoves, refrigerators, computers, old television sets, furniture, and so on. (There are only so many resources to be harvested from Mother Earth. It’s not endless..) we need a complete restructuring of how we live if we are going to prevent this. And, we’re sorely, sorely behind. It’s a fact.professor

A dependent (on the State) population is easier to control

Fewer rights and responsibilities in a new world order. All the rights gained under modernity are exercised less and less until they match the level of duty. The universal state asks nothing of you and respects no one.

And by this time the aging population has passed away. Fears of overpopulation replaced by that of the empty earth. The new world order turns out to be considerably more conservative than its detractors expected and far more authoritarian than its supporters ever dreamed of. Making people breed will become a thing once again.

In 50 years or so, there will be new compounds for human life on other planets..... Mars will be the first and continue on from there.
Policing will be done by preprogrammed cyborgs. If you do this, in jail you go. No bias or preferential treatment, just right or wrong.
Due to computers/robots, there will be no need for humans to work. Things will become so streamlined... robots don't call in sick, they don't argue, they don't go on strike. Costs should go down because there will be no need for dbl payout for employees who are sick.
Humans, through surgical intervention, will live to be on average 120 yrs old, failing organs to be replaced with plastic protheses that are made from the plastic that was fished out of the sea and recycled.
We will finally know if wieners are made out of pigs lips and asses, what is the pink goo that McD's nuggets are made of and what KFC's 11 different herbs and spices are.....

Just off the top of my head.....

Read the book Jang from Tanith Lee. How much Science fiction will it be in 50 or 100 years? confused
Think about Jules Verne who wrote about a submarine and a zeppelin, long before they were even build for the first time. Science fiction became reality.

Is the name of the book "Don't Bite the Sun"?

I haven't read science fiction for a while and I'm tired of most science fiction films and series that are filmed nowadays (just entertainment, nothing to make you think) and might give this a try. smile

Thank you for recommending. thumbs up

Yes.
It's brought out again under this title, I believe.

It's about a girl, living in a world where robots and machines rule over three cities, and when she misbehaved too many times she is send to the desert where she learns how to live in a world without computers.
Part of the story is impossible, like getting a new body when you are tired of your old, commiting suicide and the robots give you a new life, while you remember everything of your old life etc.
But the main theme is that we don't need all these computers etc. without we can have a good life too, maybe even better. Makes you think...

The glorious future. 50 years ahead is unknown everything that is of now will be concluded by then. I still think we are looking at a Caeser to restore order to the chaos. Someone regarded in 100 years as the best or worst person ever to have lived. Either that or the caves. Everything that is felt right today will pass away.
