Is it possible for a long distance relationship to work? I like this girl but she lives in North Carolina and I live in New York. I want to go to North Carolina and see my aunt and visit this girl I met. Should I just scrap the whole thing and forget about it ever possibly happening?

Its definitly possible. You should at least meet her and see how you feel. Then go from there. But you have to realize that one of you will have to move if comes to anything serious.

Of course you should not scrap the idea! Go see your Aunt and meet the young lady.

Yes it is possible although it may seem harder to do it really isn't, look at distance as just time traveling, when you love somone you would spend 10 mins to drive to them so why not 10 hours to fly. Some might say its harder but it's really just how you think about it and as long as you have no problem with spending a little extra time traveling then do it.

What's stopping you? You've got nothing to lose by just meeting her the once, at least then you'll have some idea of how things may pan out.

In a word.....NO
Just my opinion, of course! Seldom do local relationships work out...or these sites wouldn't be here!! So how do you maintain a long distance relationship??

Try being on the other side of the globe, 12,000 miles away

well.... it could be the love of your life, you know? but there again it could not...
if it looks like it is... there's going to have to be adjustments... one will have to move unless you want to carry on whith a relationship where the only thing you cuddle at night is either a teddy bear or a pillow ...
easy to say... "move! move over!" well, there are all sorts of things to take into consideration before that possible move. work, children, schools, doctors.. friends...family... and the dreaded and usually ignored.. "what if.....?"
I know it's difficult to find someone and to actually have the sparks flying all over is probably more difficult... love also gets stronger by being together so I think it's important to be as close as possible to each other if only to be able to see each other on a very regular basis and see how things develop.
long distance relationships are probably a sefety net.
there again, some people have actually managed to have a successfull long distance relationship, done the moving bit and done alright.
Long distance relationships definitely take more effort...more dedication...
However, if the trip is not "specifically" to meet her, then its not a "wasted" effort if it doesn't pan out (you said you're visiting relatives there as well right?)

If you're going to NC to visit your aunt it wouldn't hurt to meet the girl for coffee or something .........don't label at seeing if a LDR could work. it's just 2 friends meeting and hanging out ......then you can see what's what later...............d@mn labels ruin everything JMO

If you are going to have coffee with her...you might as well spend the night so that she can make the coffee in the morning. You will be accomplishing several things at one time.
1. Is she any good in the kitchen 2. can she follow your directions on how to make YOUR coffee 3. Will she do what she is told 4. Was she worth spending the night with(or maybe this should be first on the list!)
