Waves come in, bringing more sand Then take it right back out again Building up here, breaking down there Maintaining the balance of nature’s design Crashing-wave bubbles, frothy and white, Some bursting in their glory, under the sunlight Others rejoining the water source for Another ride on life’s wave.
As I walk, my feet sink into the sand Level, even-spaced impressions left behind Oh so briefly before the next waves come and Obliterate my having been, leaving no trace. It is as it should be, leave no trace behind. If I am to remain longer, it will have To be within your heart and mind While sandpipers dart back and forth
My footprints follow their own path Close to the water’s edge as it Laces its way across the beach Lapping at my toes and jumping Up to greet me with a warm Southern drawl, caressing my thighs Waiting for the moment when I give in And submerge myself in its salty depth.

My favourite sound, the ocean waves.. Beautiful poem!!!
Hi, Ladybee42, a goodguy2have, cafetwo2010, ginger1959, QuietStormF,
I am so pleased that you found a sense of the seashore, grain by grain, that embraces the ocean. Thank you for your kind comments. cafetwo2, I hope that you will be able to see the sandpipers again, soon. I marvel at how they peck and then dart to avoid the flow while the seagulls stand firmly planted and allow the wave edge to wash over their webbed feet. I wonder which one I am - today!
Although my at-home-PC time is usually limited, I truly enjoy reading the posts in our Poet’s Corner. I am very happy that you, whose poems I enjoy reading and am moved by, enjoyed my post and could submerge yourselves into its depths. After a hectic week at work, I’m off to Rockport MA to spend the weekend at the beach with friends. It won’t be very warm (except in my heart) and the NE ocean waves won’t be crashing, but the sun will be shining and my soul shall be at rest, once again. Except for metaphorically, I will certainly NOT SUBMERGE!
Nice write...just the other day i read 'river yamuna flooded', well she has her own plans....man has to fail..the last 5 lines...that's coming from a mighty will...thanks gnj4u

“My footprints follow their own path”
What a great phrase!
“a warm Southern drawl, caressing my thighs Waiting for the moment when I give in And submerge myself in its salty depth”
And as for this phrase..., thighs being caressed, and
“Lapping at my toes”,
my god, Massachusetts, i need a cold shower or two, lol, just my feeble attempt at humour, great write, my friend, and you wrote it on my birthday, i note, always a great day for notable things..., smile?
Hi, hariksna, Although we try to harness nature, she has ways of freeing herself from our grips. We all need to learn how to swim through life, especially if we live near the ocean or the banks of the Yamuna river.
Hi, Earlgreytea, A belated Happy Birthday - a very notable thing, indeed!!! I am pleased that my poem got to celebrate the day with you. Smile!
