THE GIFT (Part 2)

When the stars saw the tears,
They spoke among themselves,
They must help dear moon to quell her fears…..
Loneliness was the problem, so they thought,
For an age they talked and talked,
Decided that further wisdom must be sought…..
They spoke to the sun,
Who brightly shone on the earth by day,
So thought they, he must be the wisest one…..
Sun hit on an idea almost instantly,
And all through the next day,
Warmed and warmed the sea…..
Much to the stars surprise,
Some of the sea turned to vapour clouds,
That began to rise and rise…..
Then, the sun told the special clouds when he set,
To cradle and soothe the moon,
Like a warm, fiery, silken blanket…..
But the moon still felt alone,
Still she cried and cried,
Still had a heavy heart like stone…..
