The Social Worker
Of days that are dark,
And those that seem bright,
Sometimes, like the weather, mind isn’t right,
It gets harder to get up and smile,
Do as you always do, go that extra mile,
It can be miserable as the rain,
Sorting through, easing others’ pain,
They’re thinking of themselves, not of you,
They’re not being selfish, they just don’t know what to do,
And always you are there, you give and give,
Sometimes forgetting, you too need to live,
So many need help in life out there,
Sometimes a hole in their life, a rip to mend or a tear,
You forget there’s only one of you, numbers don’t balance or compare,
You can’t help everyone, it’s too much to bear,
Others' weight on your shoulders will get too heavy, no time for fun,
Still you carry on, though just remember, you’re not superhuman,
Just a very special one.

nice write Andrew
I couldn't do what they do - nurses, social workers, teachers and all the people who have to put themselves out there for people. I admire them greatly for it - a lovely tribute Andrew
