simple courtesies

"Good day Madam" the elder spoke up
to the five-year-old with a tea cup

"Good day Mister" the girl replied
"Would you like a cup of tea?"

"Why thank you very much, I would"
he said, as he bowed to tip his hat.

She handed him a saucer, then a cup,
carefully poured, so not to spill a drop.

With watchful care he lifted his tea
to sip a sup and gaze thoughtfully.

"Good lady I must with all honesty say
that this is the finest I've sipped today."

The young lady smiled, so to underscore,
and replied "Thank you Sir, care for more?"
