REMEMBER ME!
The two carved hearts are still there,
For now it seems, one is beating,
I just stand and stare,
Watching the other bleeding,
And the choir of twigs strike up a mournful note,
As the cold wind sings though the branches of our tree,
I pull up the collar of my coat,
Making it harder to feel, you see,
But, the rain still hits my face, mixing with the tears in my eyes
Both wind and rain,
Sounding like the shattering of promises, and heaving sighs,
Racking me with guilty pain.
Each drop stinging like a shard of glass,
I scream, “When can we be together again?
How many more times, must I, this way pass?”
And just as I turn to go,
In my minds eye, your smile I see,
I knew it would be just so!
And carried on the wind are your words,
“Darling,…….Be strong ……Remember me”

The pain of separation cuts deep with Each drop stinging like a shard of glass.
wonderfully worded and with such passion.
such an unusual phrase..., love it...
Making it harder to feel, you see,
But, the rain still hits my face, mixing with the tears in my eyes
And carried on the wind are your words,
“Darling,…….Be strong ……Remember me”
This is a superb poem, there is something haunting about the above lines, like an old black and white movie, the man with his collar up, rain mixing with his tears. It is quite a dark poem, dark is what I like.
