my funny valentine

my funny valentine
my precious valentine
I long to hold you in my arms

you've been gone for quite a while
all these days without your smile
still, each new day my eyes are searching for you

but you are not around
a glimpse of you cannot be found
so my hopeful heart has once more become blue

I walk in blank stupor
I talk in low tones
I sing no more for I am but alone

one day you may return
by then I may have learned
to hold you tight and never to let you go

please unlock the door for me
allow my open eyes to see
the vision that is you coming back home

we'll dance in the moonlight
we'll fly in the star bright
we'll hold each other never more to roam

my funny valentine
my dear sweet valentine
my funny valentine
come back home
