Indian rail

I remember standing in an Indian railway station
back country, 1990, early for the train
and all the action was on the Gulf War
people were a little nervous
unknown how Moslems were going to respond
But it was so peaceful
just rusting iron under an Indian sun
and the chirping and flittering of sparrows
that seem to accompany all building
of railway stations around the planet
Odd that on the boundaries of a war things seemed
so much lighter than the wall-to-wall
havoc and information barrage from a virus,
perhaps I'll turn the TV off and
just head out into the country,
find me a railway station with no trains

Great write Oceanzest.....I tend to think we watch too much about the virus and watching the ocean always makes me feel better....

Hi, Oceanzest,
just rusting iron under an Indian sun
and the chirping and flittering of sparrows

May such beautiful images continue to provide respite from
the wall-to-wall
havoc and information barrage from a virus.

Thank you for sharing.

It seems the more modern we get, things in our life are more complicated and stressed. There are times that nostalgic is better and more peaceful. Enjoy those moments for they are few and far apart in this day and age.

I love this poem. I felt like I was right there feeling the sun and seeing the sparrows . Its true ,birds do seem to inhabit railway stations . Invisible seeds on the tracks maybe ?

There is a railway about 22 miles from me that you can stand just a couple feet away from the passing train. I have only been lucky enough to see a train twice in the past two years.daydream hijack
