Open Air Market

There's a bleach stain on my favorite pants
a splash of almost indiscernible light along the shadowy folds
and beside it, with her tail wagging and ears perked
my four legged friend watches all round

I don't have to worry about hair
I've cut mine short and my look is effortlessly clean
and I wear my clothes well though they're of
the Salvation Army caliber

We form a grandmother's shadow
as she delves into stall after stall
exchanging vocal fragrances
with the vendors and their pride
Everything strikes her as expensive today
even though the "two (sweet) potatoes for five dollars" wieghed a kilo
and the apples would last in the cellar till after Christmas
and beyond

And for some reason the rain stopped a quarter hour ago
and the sun came out and spelled summer thoughts
and it didn't start to rain again until we got home and
finished reloading the pantry
and the dog curled up beside me
as I made myself comfortable with my cup of reheated coffee

I think tonight there will be apple pie...

cider

From the tree
The apple grow
Forments its jouice
Ripe to pick

Fallen from the branches
Heavy burden
To the ground
It lies upoun

To be picked
In boxes heavy
And wanting
To be washed
To the press

A heavey burden
A sweet and tasting jouce thus flow
Contained
And tapped the jouice forments
To the cider farm

It be keeped
For sale it now be drunk
That fallen from the tree

hot flame

Blue
Bright flame
Hot to touch
Flickers

Dancing hot
Burns strips of yellow white
Heat radiate
Belows and glows

Heat projects
Envelopes the space
Hot blue flames
Burns safe protected from black poisonus soot

Permiates the oven space heats the food within
Hot and joices flow
Who's for turkey dinner

Hail to Kale

Embedded image from another site

If you like chips or crisps
All greasy and yummy
You wont’ be able to wait
To get these ones to your lips
So good for you and your tummy
Because they taste so great!

This lovely dark green leaf kale
Hailed, yes “Hail to Kale”
As the “worlds healthiest food”
So you know it’s got to be good!

It’s called the “new beef”
Those beautiful leafs
It’s the “queen of the greens”
You know what I mean!

It’s a lovely recipe with a twist
Very, very easy and oh so hip!

Recipe’
Dry the leaves well after washing
It's better for storing and tossing

Grab a large pan that you’ll be shovin’
Into a preheated 375 degree oven

· 1. Take all the green leaves off the stem
You don't want to use them
That part is thicker and bitter

· 2. Chop those leaves up nicely into chip/crisp sizes
This recipe will win you some smiles and prizes

· 3. Into a large bowl they will go with power

· 4. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil to shower

· 5. Tong toss them up add pepper and sea salt too
Everyone will love them Mmmmm - through and through

· 6. Now add that sensual chopped garlic

· 7 And some herbs you love fresh from the garden

· 8 Let that mixture sit that's the trick

· 9 Toss every once in awhile for the flavors to mix

Baking
Now, spread out this heavenly mixture on your pan
Into the oven is the plan

· In 15 minutes gently toss them around a bit
· In 30 minutes they are crisp and perfectly fit

Now you can munch on kale leaves just like chips
Use these crisps/chips as a delightful garnish
For any creative dish
Or simply eat them up . . .
Until they vanish!

A TIME FOR ALL MANKIND

THERE IS A TIME FOR LIVING; AND A TIME FOR GIVING; AND A TIME FOR ALL MANKIND! I HOPE, MOST OF US, GO THRU LIFE; CARING, AND SHARING; BUT I KNOW, SOME PEOPLE, GO THRU LIFE; BLIND! I FOR ONE, PUT ANIMALS AND PEOPLE, FIRST; MAKING SURE, ALL WHO ENTER MY DOOR, ARE NOURISHED, AND DO NOT CRY OUT; FOR LACK OF THIRST! I HELP OUT IN SOUP KITCHENS; AND BY MY OWN, ADMISSIONS; HOPE THE DAY WILL COME, WHEN I CAN DO, SO MUCH MORE! I LIVE FOR THE TIME, WHEN I CAN BE, ANOTHER, GATES; AND MAKE SURE; ALL MANKIND, GOES THRU LIFE; WITH FULL PLATES!

Free Food

My two favorite words
Free Food!
Love to eat
Especially when it doesn't cost me a thing
How many people are addicted to free food?
Plenty!
Food stamps have become an addiction in this country
Many choosing to be parasites when they could work for their food
Many having babies they expect the government to feed
How much of this food is actually good for you?
Try eating without the words high fructose corn syrup
It is everywhere
You would have to become a vegan to avoid it completely
So I love free food
But it sure ain't free

About this poem:
Got some free donuts, pop, and pizza today at work. Enjoyed it very much, but why did some of the mean workers in my department buy it for everyone? I guess it was still nice of them.

Ice Cube Tray on Empty

To say I wish I could
bring you into my life
here somehow, into these
days where I warm my hands
on the soft coat of a
grandmother's lapdog,
is to deny a place
to the blanket of sadness
that wants to
marry me.
